Neo-Nazis Lose Parental Rights

Finally, a decision has been reached in a story that I brought to you some time back. Obviously, Canada doesn't mess around when it comes to their children.

The Manitoba government has won permanent guardianship of two children whose parents were accused of teaching them neo-Nazi beliefs.

A Court of Queen's Bench judge has ordered that the boy and girl remain in the custody of Child and Family Services (CFS), which has placed them in foster care with a relative.

The court also dismissed a constitutional challenge from the father, who argued the government violated his right to raise the children according to his beliefs. He is the stepfather of the girl, now nine, and the biological father of the boy, now four years old.

'This is communism, state-sanctioned theft of children to punish their parents based solely on an alleged belief system.' —Mother of seized children

To protect the identities of the children, no one involved in the case can be named.

The children were removed from their home in 2008 after the girl showed up at her elementary school with racist writings and symbols on her skin.

We truly have come a very long way since these words were spoken by Dr. King, but, I submit that we still have a whole lot of steppin' to do before we arrive at that final word. As I found myself gripped by the horror that we have all been feeling over the situation in Haiti, I was struck by the outpouring of love and assistance that has been emanating from across the globe. Unfortunately, at the same time however, I have also been witness to the evil side of humanity, as well.

Just as we have all emerged from the celebrations of Dr. King's birthday and still warm in the glow of his powerful words being reverberated throughout our country and a renewed hopeful outlook, the cold, icy fingers of hate have been busy throughout the world wide web demonstrating how much work remains and just how vile and contemptuous the racists among us can be.

Nevermind the Pat Robertson's and the Rush Limbaugh's with their pulpits and microphones, these are the internet warriors who sow their seeds of hatred throughout the cyberworld in the hopes that they may reach the tiny, warped or undeveloped minds of others more vulnerable or more twisted. As we believe ourselves to be, indeed, pride ourselves on being, a civilized society there are those who would expose themselves as the true underbelly of a subculture of monsters and demons only to prove us liars.

As CNN and MSNBC, et.al., continue their coverage of the heroism of the first responders and the valiant spirit of the surviors, there are those who applaud, not the courage or the saving of lives, but the carnage and the destruction and the death of a people. They relish each new death toll and rail against all efforts and all compassion forthcoming. On one of the more prominent racist message boards it was only a matter of minutes after the quake before the true nature of the beasts among us raised its' head and spewed its' vomit:

"Why must we accept monkeys as humans?

"Is that an insane question? Or a sane question in an insane world?

"The politically correct world that the jews have built up in America over the past 50+ years is a madhouse, full of fun house mirrors that distort everything into its opposite shape.

"These vile coons should have died out long ago, by nature. Only White aid - perfectly senseless and criminally wasteful - has been keeping them alive, why? So that they can suffer revolutions and natural disasters and be "rescued" again and again and again? You call that sane?"

And that is simply the tip of the iceberg and is one of the least pernicious comments. There are 456 comments in that one thread - most being far too despicable to cite here and there are several threads devoted to the devastation in Haiti.

As many of the human race rushes to do what they can in this time of great confusion and need - sending money, food, and supplies, rendering services, adopting children, setting up shelters, digging through the rubble, burying the dead there are those so broken, and so repugnant as to wish nothing more than to exploit this catastrophe for their own iniquitous agendas.

Certainly, it is a time for us to help rebuild lives and to provide hope for others. It is a time for us to maintain positives and negate negatives. It is a time for us to unite in the face of catastrophe. It is also a time to stand united against those who prosper through exploitation and abhorrent acts.

We may be able to dismiss the Pat Robertson's and the Rush Limbaugh's of this world as nothing more than rabble-rousing nutjobs as we continue our benevolence, but it is incumbent upon us to understand that they are the fuel for the fire, the stokers of the flames that feed this egregious hatred. Their words and their messages are latched onto by those among us - and make no mistake, they DO walk among us - who want nothing less than genocide and a white's only society. These individuals use the messages of right-wing extremist evangelicals and talk-show hosts as a means to validate their very existence and their twisted ideas.

Consequently, as we are united in our efforts to provide safety and security and hope for our Haitian neighbors and others who experience such hardships, so should we be united in our efforts to confront those whose sole purpose is to further victimize through their hate-filled agendas. Any way you cut it, silence equals acceptance. And if we desire the fruition of Dr. King's dream, whereby unarmed truth and unconditional love really do have the final word, we're going to have to speak - loudly, firmly, and clearly.

It Ain't Over Til It's Over

Just when you think the fat lady has sung, you find out that the ongoing saga really has no end.

Bill White has been convicted on four counts and awaits his fate. But, that's not the end of the story. On the 20th of this month - next Wednesday, another hearing will be held where White's attorney will attempt to persuade the judge to overturn the verdicts. But, that's not even the end of the story. Now, it appears that a three-judge panel is looking into the dropping of those charges in Chicago.

Federal prosecutors are not satisfied with the original court ruling and, it appears, that the charges claiming that White used his website to incite violence against a juror could be reinstated. It should be obvious to even the casual observer by now that the federal government has a real hard-on for Bill White and they aren't going to rest until he is deeply embedded in the prison system.

The entirety of the White Supremacy/Neo-Nazi Movement has a history of avarice, lewdness, and abject depravity despite its' public claims of family and, sometimes Christian, values and morality. Additionally, the movement has been decimated time and again by its' own hypocrisy.

Amid the many reports of David Duke's sexual exploits with the ladies there were also rumors and accusations of homosexual activity. Tom Metzger, one of the most vocal and well recognized members of the extremist set spoke of Duke's close relationship with the Reverend James Warner, a Christian Identity anti-Semite who ran the New Christian Crusade Church out of St. Bernard Parrish in Louisiana.

Metzger claimed, " Duke ran with Warner and Warner took him on a tour of Hollywood gay bars in the 70’s. I personally think Duke is a closet Bi sexual for many reasons. So I am not shocked when I hear of a right winger being popped a some sex charge."

Metzger isn't the only one who has made such a claim against Duke. Warner was an active member of the American Nazi Party and has been shunned by many over the years for what some claim is his homosexual activities as well as being a transvestite.

This sort of thing is not unusual within the movement. Generally speaking, hundreds of people over the last few decades have been known homosexuals, pedophiles, or, for them even worse, Jews. Yet heads have been turned, evidence swept under the rug, and their stated believes compromised, at the very least. Only when it becomes public knowledge do they take the steps necessary to cast out or castigate the "unwanted" in their midst. Such is the way of the very needy hate-monger.

Among themselves they speculate and even laugh about what they know to be true of others sharing their table of hate. Matthais Koehl was well known among those in the NSWPP as a homosexual and speculation ran wild about the late Dr. William Luther Pierce.

The Dr. in front of William Luther Pierce was earned through a doctorate in physics conferred upon him in 1962. Upon this distinction, Pierce accepted and assistant professorship at Oregon State University and joined the John Birch Society which seems to have served as a conduit for many white supremacists and right-wing militants and extremists.

As the John Birch Society did not take up what Pierce believed most pressing - the question of the Jew - it quickly lost its' appeal to the professor and he moved on and began communicating with George Lincoln Rockwell, the Commander of the American Nazi Party. This ideology was much more in line with Pierces' Hitlerian belief system. After all, he had been raised by Southern Aristocracy in an era that ingrained racism and anti-Semitism into the souls of many people.

In 1965, Pierce and his wife moved to Connecticut where he spent a year as a senior research scientist. This wasn't particularly satisfying and he finally quit. That would be the last real paying job that Pierce would ever have.

He took a non-paying position editing "The National Socialist World" for Rockwell's group. Apparently, Dr. Pierce enjoyed being with his ideological peers and his academic prowess would soon lead him on a journey that would become his life's work.

In 1967, George Lincoln Rockwell was assassinated by one of his own and William Luther Pierce moved up the ladder.

Matthais Koehl declared that Rockwell had named him as his hand-picked successor in the event of his death and he began referring to himself as "Deputy Commander Koehl," a title that no one had ever heard prior to the highly controversial Rockwell assassination.

On the night of the murder it was rumored and later pretty much confirmed that Pierce and Robert Lloyd, the second in command broke into Rockwell's safe and destroyed his political testament.

At this point, Pierce, Koehl, and Lloyd now shared equally in the total ownership of the NSWPP and the handwriting was on the wall. The ideological differences between Pierce and Koehl heralded the chasm that was soon to develop.

Koehl won the majority of the votes of those present in Arlington immediately following Rockwell's death. However, just as members across the U.S. were shocked and outraged over the murder of their leader, many were stunned by Koehl's ascent to the top. Koehl's reputation preceded him.

Pierce was a quiet, seemingly reserved, and somewhat quirky individual who maintained social distance from most of the others. This often gained him the reputation of being aloof or "untouchable." Such is often the case with those who roam the halls of academia.

While there were rumors about Pierce's sexual proclivities, he was respected by many of the more erudite or learned within the party for his insight and writing skills. As was the case with most who worked toward the cause of white revolution, Pierce was always armed. He was well-known for being somewhat of a physical wimp so it can only be concluded that he compensated with his mental acuity and an equalizer.

It wasn't long before Koehl began to shut Pierce out. He banned Pierce from the party and a tense stand-off of armed "friends" ensued as Lloyd and others chose their sides. Eventually, Pierce moved on taking Lloyd and other loyalists with him.

Dr. William Luther Pierce was not only smart but confident and cagey as well. He knew what it would take to build an organization that could impact American policy, politics, and power-brokers and to catapult his zest for racial revolution into the mainstream.

First it would take numbers - like-minded individuals who could be groomed and schooled to recruit large numbers of white youth into whatever organization he built.

It would require a massive program of education and indoctrination of American minds - which meant media - all kinds of media.

It would have to entail running political candidates and being successful in endorsing and placing more white nationalists in high offices around the country.

It would necessitate militancy and deception to create the revolution that he envisioned.

But, most importantly, it would take money - and lots of that.

In 1968, the country was in turmoil. Tensions were at an all-time high as frustrations over the Viet-Nam War boiled over and Civil Rights were being bitterly fought for. U.S. citizens were sharply divided over the issues. Everyone had a deep-rooted opinion and the chasm of right versus left became even more profound.

Racial segregationist and former Governor of Alabama, George Wallace, had thrown his hat into the ring of Presidential hopefuls and the lines of prejudice were etched permanently in the minds and hearts of generations to come.

Pierce, with an agenda, joined his friend, Willis Carto, who had just founded the Youth For Wallace group and who had a bankroll to boot.

For Carto, just a few years Pierces' senior, race was destiny. Heavily influenced in his younger years by Francis Parker Yockey, a paranoid and fragmented fascist and Nazi sympathizer who demonized the Jews.

Willis Carto, always somewhat of a shadowy figure, also knew what it would take to influence public opinion. Like Pierce, he did a short stint in the John Birch Society where it is reported that he stole their membership list, (it must have been a fetish.)

As the battle over Civil Rights was being played out in this country, there were those still embroiled in the pseudoscience of eugenics, struggling to prove racial superiority and to further their beliefs in the production of the master race.

In August 1935, Wickliffe Preston Draper traveled to Berlin to attend the International Congress for the Scientific Investigation of Population Problems. Draper was a strict segregationist and major supporter of eugenics. Accordingly, during his trip, as reported on Wikipedia, "Presiding over the conference was Wilhelm Frick, the Reichminister of the Interior. (Frick was hanged in 1946 for his crimes against humanity.) At the conference, Draper's travel companion Dr. Clarence Campbell delivered an oration that concluded with the words: "The difference between the Jew and the Aryan is as unsurmountable [sic] as that between black and white. … Germany has set a pattern which other nations must follow. … To that great leader, Adolf Hitler." Three years later, when Draper paid to print and disseminate a book titled White America, a personal copy was delivered to Reichminister Frick.

"In 1937, Draper founded the Pioneer Fund, a foundation intended to give scholarships to descendants of White colonial-era families, and to support research into "race betterment" through eugenics. The scholarships were never given, but the first project of the Fund was to distribute two documentary films from Nazi Germany depicting their claimed success with eugenics (though years before the Holocaust and its eventual public disclosure, Germany's eugenic policies were still very controversial for their far-reaching scope and often coercive public policies). The Pioneer Fund was headed by the controversial eugenicist Harry H. Laughlin, known especially for his role in the establishment of restrictive immigration laws and paving the way for national programs of compulsory sterilization of the mentally ill and mentally retarded."

The Pioneer Fund has been a controversial foundation awarding grants and funds to a consortium of extremists for the last several decades. One of the reicpients of Draper's early beneficence was none other than Willis Carto.

Many of Draper's donations were successfully made under the radar and did not come to public light until decades later. During the 1960's he made contributions to various groups advocating the repatriation of African-Americans as well as to the Mississippi State Soverignty Commission to support racial segreation.

The Youth for Wallace group attracted the attention of many prominent individuals just as the George Wallace campaign was becoming the breeding ground for future racist and extremists in our political system. William Pierce's mother hadn't raised any dummy and he knew that traveling in the circles of such notable individuals could do nothing but help him in his endeavors.

Willis Carto was already making himself well-known and ingratiating himself to some very heavy hitters. Recognizing that being a conservative is much more acceptable than being a Nazi or a racist or an anti-Semite, Carto tried to foist another of his groups, the Liberty Lobby, off on mainstream America as nothing more than a conservative political organization. Nothing could have been further from the truth.
In October of 1966, journalists, Drew Pearson and Jack Anderson, published a series of stories that reported the findings of a former employee, Jeremy Horne. "Horne said he had discovered a box of correspondence between Carto and numerous government officials establishing the Joint Council of Repatriation (JCR), a forerunner organization to the Liberty Lobby. The JCR stated that their fundamental purpose was to "repatriate" blacks "back to Africa". Ex-Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Tom Brady and various members of the White Citizens' Councils who had worked to established the JCL, also contributed to the founding of the Liberty Lobby. Other correspondence referred to U.S. Congressional support for the emerging Liberty Lobby, such as from South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond Califfornia Congressman James Utt."

The White Citizens Council was nothing more than a suit and tie rendition of the Ku Klux Klan wielding political and economical clout throughout the South. It later metamophosed into what is now known as the Council of Conservative Citizens of which we will have much more to say in the coming installments.
Willis Carto has gone on to become one of the most prominent figures in promoting anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial in the world today and is worthy of a complete expose on his life alone. This is something that will be undertaken in the near future.

Dr. William Luther Pierce knew that Carto was the vehicle through which to advance his own program - his own pathway to a white tomorrow. The contacts and the funds which came with being aligned with Carto were valuable, but the membership lists in Carto's possession were pure gold and it wasn't long before Pierce had precisely those in his hands.

Not only are there strange bedfellows in politics, but there are even stranger associations within the neo-Nazi subculture the relevenacy of which will not be lost on the reader in Part III. While the ideology is aberrant and the innerworkings often violent, the truth lies on the money trail.

Just A Little Circle of Friends...
(Forty Years of Deception Still Alive and Well)

Old adages such as "Birds of a feather flock together, " or "You are judged by the company you keep" often have been proven to have exceptions, yet they still hold true in many situations and maybe more so in the White Supremacy Movement.

I have written countless articles chronicling the sleazy side of the neo-Nazi's in the United States and have often noted what appears to be a disproportionate propensity toward domestic violence, child abuse or neglect, adultery, promiscuity, and pornography. Additionally, I have frequently pointed out the lack of loyalty to each other among members of this group.

A few years ago, I started asking questions and pointing out what I believed to be some rather interesting relationships among a certain group of people, all operating together, to further an agenda of hate, bigotry, anti-Semitism, and genocide. As the years have passed, those relationships have become even more suspect in the mind of this writer. As is evidenced and well chronicled, the White Supremacy Movement has largely been factionalized for the last forty years. Yet there are many commonalities between the factions. Indeed, the ties often cross ideological lines and move into the realms of religion, revisionism, and politics. Because these groups pose a danger to the very fabric of American society, it behooves us to know where their support base is and who really finances racism, anti-Semitism, and bigotry in the United States and abroad. It is also important that the hypocrisy and deception of those leading the movement be explored and exposed to all who hold an interest in knowing the truth. In order to bring this all into perspective, a little history of these people must be told. As we move through the tawdry and violent world of hate we will demonstrate the true nature of those leaders from the past as well as those attempting to weave their way into the mainstream today.

In 1974, twenty-four-year old David Duke formed the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan and was running roughshod in Louisiana. Needing money for many of his white power endeavors, Duke published a book under the name of Dorothy Vanderbilt entitled "Finders Keepers." It was a women's self-help book giving advice on vaginal exercises, fellatio, and anal sex.

Also in 1974, he had married Chloe Hardin with whom he had two children. Chloe was active in Duke's Klan group but after ten years together, Hardin divorced Duke and moved to Florida where she met and married one of David's Klan buddies, Don Black who is now the Stormfront guru.

As a teen, Duke began communicating with Dr. William Luther Pierce, founder of the infamous National Alliance and author of the "Turner Diaries." For many years the Alliance was considered the largest and most formidable hate group in America. It spawned numerous future leaders of racist and anti-Semitic groups nationwide.

David Duke was somewhat of an anomaly within the movement at that time. With his proclamation that he was going to change the face of the Klan, he was able to recruit others such as Louis Beam, Don Black, and Tom Metzger into this radicalization from sheets to suits.

While Duke believed in the rhetoric he was spewing, he was unable to control his own ego and appetites. He had found a way to appease his own need for recognition and his penchant for a lavish lifestyle - he became a professional racist - a con man.

Membership lists are the lifeblood of white supremacist organizations. These rosters are necessary to building, maintaining and financing their groups and their activities. Because of the unsavory nature of the beliefs and the endeavors of such groups, members generally prefer to remain anonymous and they rely upon the leaders to maintain their privacy.

Duke knew the importance of these lists and he set out to build his own database of like-minded people and potential contributors - by any means necessary.

Now, Duke wasn't above unscrupulous behaviors. After all, he had expenses to meet and an agenda. In 1972, he was arrested for pocketing $500 in contributions that were meant for the campaign coffers of George Wallace so stealing and selling membership lists was no big deal. Stealing the membership from the National Alliance was easy.

By the latter half of the 1970's, his womanizing had become legendary. The Rev. Johnny Lee Clary, former Kluxer and bodyguard to Duke turned anti-racist, related to one reporter how Duke would wave the Bible around preaching Christian values and then take a members' wife to bed.

Never mind that Duke was the married father of two, Tom Metzger, a long-time racist leader, spoke of how Duke would arrive at various events and begin hitting on women. "We used to tell people, 'When Duke comes to town make sure your wife is safely locked up and don't let him near your daughter,'" said Metzger.

John Maginnis, author of "Cross to Bear," a profile of David Duke, recounted the story of a legislative aide who had lunch with Duke. "He started explaining to me that blonde, blue-eyed, Scandinavian looking people were God's chosen people, that they were made in his image. He said that God didn't want to dilute this perfection so we should only mate with others of our kind. He then asked me if I wanted to mate with him. It was the weirdest come-on line I've ever heard."

One of Duke's former girlfriends, Lori Eden, a swimsuit and lingerie model who owned and operated her own adult website, claimed that at one point in their relationship she believed herself to be pregnant. Duke, who is a strong pro-life advocate, offered to take her to Paris where they could get the "abortion pill" which was not legal in this country. According to Eden, Duke said he had been through this kind of thing before and feared that the publicity would ruin him politically.

David Duke didn't work. He ran his political campaigns, the proceeds of which he lived off of. He duped his supporters into believing that their contributions were helping him save the white race. And he lived large - nose job, chin implant, houses, babe on each arm, limos to the casinos and money to burn - other people's money. According to those close enough to know, a typical day for Duke would find him sleeping late, checking the mail for money, playing golf, going to the gym, and then heading for the casino at night.

Eventually, it all caught up with him, however. In 2003, Duke was sentenced to a short stint in federal prison for raising funds under false pretenses (mail fraud) and lying on his tax forms.

Vince Breeding - real name, Bruce Alan Breeding - was Duke's right hand man for a number of years. To those who knew of his background this should have seemed like a strange union - at least on the surface. While Duke favored the clean-cut image with impeccable dress and spouted Christian values, Breeding was playing guitar in a black metal band called Acheron that was Satanic to the core. The leader of the group was Vincent Crowley, reported an ordained "priest" in Anton LaVey's Church of Satan. He moonlighted in a striptease club in the Tampa Bay area.

In 1994, Breeding joined Dr. Pierce's National Alliance and became very active in promulgating their message of racism and anti-Semitism. He produced an underground radio show out of Tampa on which he broadcast Dr. Pierce's American Dissident Voices 24/7. When his radio signal began to interfere with the broadcasts of other local radio stations, citizens in the area started to complain to which he often responded with threats of violence and promises to never cease. Eventually, he was shut down.

Vince Breeding was certainly no Mr. Nice Guy. His associations alone were cause for many to raise their eyebrows and keep him at arms length. The Southern Poverty Law Center reports that during 1997, while Breeding was organizing events featuring Holocaust denier David Irving and the chameleonic David Duke he was sharing an apartment with Todd Vanbiber, another member of Pierce's National Alliance.

In January of 1996, Vanbiber and friend, Brian Pickett, robbed the Barnett Bank in Tampa. A month later they robbed the New Milford Savings and Loan in Danbury, Conn. After the Danbury robbery they paid Dr. Pierce a visit where they donated $1000.00 of their booty to the cause and purchased $700.00 in books from the Alliance.

In April of 1997, as he was assembling an 8-inch pipe bomb, capped at both ends, it blew up in Vanbiber's face causing serious injury. When the ATF searched his storage unit, they found several weapons, ammunition, and munitions manufacturing guides.

According to the authorities, "fourteen bombs were to be placed along two major routes in the Florida tourist capital: Interstate 4, the major access highway to Walt Disney World, and U.S. Highway 441."

Several of the bombs had already been fully assembled. Some had been prepared with timing devices, batteries, timers, and clocks. They had initially planned the bombing for April 19, the second anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing before a change in plans.

While Breeding was not officially implicated in his roommate's bombing escapade, he was busily setting up websites to further the National Alliance's bid for new recruits.

As Breeding maintained his membership in the National Alliance and worked dilligently to bolster their rank and file, his relationship with David Duke began to blossom. In 1999, Breeding launched the Nationalist News Service which operated out of Don Black's internet group, Stormfront.

The National Alliance was big and becoming bigger. Their Resistance Records enterprise was becoming a cash cow for the N.A. and Dr. Pierce, and the envy of other hate groups around the world. When Vince Breeding stole the mailing list of the white power music organization, his relationship with Dr. Pierce was severed instantly. We can only speculate as to who enticed Breeding into such an act.

Once he had burned that bridge he and the membership list traveled to Louisiana where he moved in with Duke and became his lackey. Actually, they suited each other quite well. Both had a penchant for money and life in the fast lane. Both were unprincipled. And both had honed their ability to con and scam their way through life.

After numerous name changes, Duke's organization settled on being known as the European American Unity and Rights Organization or EURO. Breeding, using the name of Vince Edwards, ran Duke's website and enhanced Duke's presence on the web. Both maintained their ties with Duke's other acolyte, Don Black, who had already built an amazing white power base on the internet.

Shortly after David Duke was sentenced to 15 months in prison, in 2003, a bombshell was dropped on the white nationalist community when it was revealed that Vince Breeding, a.k.a. Vince Edwards, a.k.a. Bruce Allen Breeding, was also "Vince the Munkay" who was anything but a white supremacist.

Vince the "Munkay" traipsed around at a party in sunglasses and a furry, floor length coat proclaiming, "You will learn to respect the dark powers of the Munkay," while promoting his "Xsite" magazine and website.

Both the rag and the site advertised "Ebony Escorts" as well as mother-daughter sex acts, and gay, lesbian and bisexual dating services.

As Breeding's alter-ego, "The Munkay" came to light one could only wonder how much about all of this was known to Pierce, Duke, Black, et.al. They knew. To think otherwise is inconceivable denial.

During Duke's incarceration, Don Black managed to keep him at the forefront with his Stormfront website. Periodic updates were always available as well as nauseating lamentations about the unjust system that kept him from his followers.

Black grew up during a time of civil unrest and turmoil in this country and he chose to become a movement in his own right. During his high school years he decided that his high school was the perfect place to recruit others into his efforts to save the white race from what was surely to be its extinction. He began by handing out flyers and newspapers containing information on the dire straits of his people. Of course, school administrators determined that this was unacceptable and banned all political propaganda from school grounds.

This was a challenge to Black. He knew he had to get creative so he garnered a mailing list of students and began sending his message through the mail. By the time he was a Junior, he had set his eye on the political machine. He knew where he was going. Politics - that's where he could do the most good to keep his beloved South and his country to stay segregated along racial lines.

J.D. Stoner, a staunch segregationist and leader of the National States' Rights Party was running for Governor of Georgia and Don Black decided to help in his campaign.

Now, Black was in training in the National Socialist Youth Movement which was a branch of the National Socialist White People's Party. For those unfamiliar, the NSWPP had been formerly called the American Nazi Party until George Lincoln Rockwell changed the name shortly before his assassination.

Robert Lloyd was the second in command of the NSWPP and, by many accounts, he had been Rockwell's pick as his successor over the current leader at the time, Matt Koehl. (Koehl now heads up a neo-Nazi outfit known as "The New Order." He was also a member of Stoner's National States' Rights Party). It's important to note that Robert Lloyd and William Luther Pierce were tight and rumor has it that Lloyd and Pierce broke into the safe of Rockwell and destroyed his political testament.

Knowing that they had a young, eager-beaver in the Stoner campaign, Robert Lloyd instructed Don Black to steal the membership list of the National States' Rights Party from Stoners' office, no doubt assuring him that such a deed would ingratiate him to the powers that be. Black was only too happy to accommodate.

What the 16-year-old didn't plan on was the vehemence with which Stoners' followers protected his files. As Don was lifting the roster out of the office, he was met with a .38- caliber hollow point to the chest. The gun was fired by Jerry Ray, brother of James Earl Ray. Jerry Ray beat the charges by claiming that he believed Black to be reaching for a weapon and fired in self-defense. Of course, it didn't help that Black was is in the process of committing a serious crime.

After college, Don Black hooked up with David Duke and began helping in the recruitment process as well as in Duke's political campaigns. The charlatanistic Duke schooled the young man in his beliefs that supremacy should be promoted as nationalism and that sheets should be traded for suits. The public persona was, of course, to always be quite different than the private.

In 1981, Don Black, along with nine other white supremacists tried their hands at becoming mercenaries. They were caught in the middle of trying to execute a planned coup that they dubbed "Operation Red Dog." The men were to leave out of a New Orleans marina and stage an offensive take-over of the small island of Dominica. They would do this with eight machine guns, ten shotguns, five rifles, ten handguns, ten pounds of dynamite, 5,496 rounds of ammunition, and a large Nazi flag.

When arrested, they were charged with "seeking to create a drug, gambling, and offshore banking empire on the island republic." Black made the following statement before being sentenced to three years in prison for violation of the U.S. Neutrality Act:

"What we were doing was in the best interest of the United States and its security in the hemisphere and we feel betrayed by our government."

Our federal prisons' rehabilitation services were made available to Mr. Black during his time there and he certainly put them to use. In some ways, you could say that that those services created a monster. Black immersed himself in computer programming classes and upon his release he knew he had a future.

First, he ran for a U.S. Senate seat - quite unsuccessfully. He also married the former Chole Duke - David Duke's ex-wife.

Black started experimenting with the internet. He quickly realized the potential the World Wide Web held for recruiting and networking with like-minded people the world over. The sheer anonymity that the net offered was compelling. His experimentation led to his creation of Stormfront in 1995. Stormfront has served as an umbrella and clearing house under which people from various hate groups and supremacy persuasions have been able to congregate, share information, and publish ideas for the last fourteen years. It has also served as a money-making enterprise for Don Black.

While Black left the Klan, he did not leave Duke or his organization. Quite the contrary. Through Stormfront, Black has provided a venue and a forum from which Duke can mentor and influence others in his endeavors.

It is important for the reader that we pause at this juncture and reflect upon a few pertinent truisms that might not be evident at this point. The three individuals profiled so far have some obvious commonalities.

All three have been extremely influential in the movement for decades. All three became involved in racist and anti-Semitic activities at a very young age. All three have made their livelihoods from the movement and illicit exploits. All three possess many of the same character flaws - amorality, criminal minds, and disloyalty. What may not be as evident is their recruitment and the influence of others sharing membership in certain groups.

Throughout the discussion thus far one name emerges time and time again - that of Dr. William Luther Pierce and his organization, the National Alliance. Accordingly, as is still the case today, cross-participation in various groups was not unheard of. As we progress through this look at our little circle of friends the reader is asked to keep in mind the names of certain individuals and organizations so as to be able to make the connections between them.

While names and acronyms such as the National Socialist White People's Party (NSWPP) or the National States' Rights Party (NSRP) may be confusing or even alien to the reader, it is important to grasp the scope of the ties that one has to the other.

Regardless of how baseless or unfounded the beliefs of the racist right seem to mainstream Americans, the truth is that many of the followers deeply buy into the rhetoric spewed by the leaders of these organizations. As you have seen, so far, membership lists are among the coveted assets of these groups largely because of the financial benefits. But, hate, to people like Pierce and Duke and Black is also a business. It is their job - their way of making a living.

Book sales, white-power music sales, speaking engagements, and member donations all help them to line the pockets of their organizations and themselves. But, there's more...much more. Political ties and palm-greasings are important and very necessary as well as friends in very high places.

As we move on to a few other note-worthy individuals, please note the not-so-complex web of companions that has suckered in the unsuspecting and the implications for the future that such pernicious bedfellows holds for all of us.

Teens In Peril in Cinnaminson

Cinnaminson, New Jersey is a small town of about 15,000 people bordering the Delaware River and just outside of Philadelphia. Ninety-one percent white, Cinnaminson derives its' name from the Native American Lenni Lenape tribe which loosely translated meand "sweet water." The township itself is just 8 miles sqaure and claims the following, "The Township of Cinnaminson is a community of families, neighbors and businesses. Taking our name from the Lenni-Lenape Tribe, we are the place where fresh waters and fresh ideas flow. We pride ourselves on an effective education system, on neighbors who care about our homes and one another and a well-run local government dedicated to serving citizens fairly and economically." But there is trouble brewing in Cinnaminson these days and we hope they can get a handle on it.

Last week, two teenagers were arrested in Cinnaminson after it was discovered that they had tortured, shot, and buried a beautiful black Labrador. Upon investigation, the police found hate literature and the boys claimed to be members of the Aryan Nations. Charges brought against the young men include animal cruelty, weapons possession in connection with the killing, committing a crime on behalf of a criminal street gang and solicitation of another to join a criminal street gang.

According to the news report, there are other juveniles who are believed to be part of this gang and the police will be working with the local school district to identify and curtail their activities in that area.

Considering the fact that both New Jersey and Pennsylvania have become hotbeds for skinheads and other racist groups, it probably should not come as any big surprise that there are groups such as these operating in the suburbs of major cities. It is troubling, however, that these groups are recruiting children so young and gaining footholds with our schools.

Due to the many arrests and convictions of leaders within the White Supremacy Movement over the last few years, paranoia has caused many adherents to build small cell groups or engage in lone wolf type activities. Targeting our young people has always been at the top of their list. This is what makes it so necessary for educators, law-enforcement and parents to educate themselves on the signs to watch for and any effective tactics to use to prevent the hate-filled message of these groups from tainting the innocence of our children.

It's Spring, folks - and the activity of hate-groups promises to be heating up.

Over a three-night initiative called Operation Cross Country, federal agents working with local law enforcement also arrested more than 571 suspects on a variety of federal and state prostitution-related charges, the bureau said.

The teenage prostitutes found in the investigation ranged in age from 13 to 17.

"We may not be able to return their innocence but we can remove them from this cycle of abuse and violence," said FBI Director Robert Mueller.

Meanwhile, in Memphis, Tenn., a man pleaded guilty Monday to federal civil rights charges for sex trafficking in minors. Leonard Fox faces at least 10 years in prison after admitting that he arranged for underaged girls to engage in sex for money.

"To sexually prey upon young girls in this manner for financial gain is particularly damaging to the victims and an affront to the society in which we live," said Loretta King, acting head of the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division.

Historically, federal authorities rarely play a role in anti-prostitution crackdowns, but the FBI is becoming more involved as it tries to rescue children caught up in the business.

"The goal is to recover kids. We consider them the child victims of prostitution," said FBI Deputy Assistant Director Daniel Roberts.

"Unfortunately, the vast majority of these kids are what they term 'throwaway kids,' with no family support, no friends. They're kids that nobody wants, they're loners. Many are runaways," Roberts said.

Most of the children are put into the custody of local child protection agencies.

Agents in cities from Miami to Chicago to Anchorage, Alaska took part in the operation.

Special Agent Melissa Morrow of the FBI's Washington office said the operation has put them on the trail of a particular 16-year-old prostitute they still haven't found.

Adult prostitutes arrested during the operation provided key tips about the girl, the agent said.

"She is currently 16 and started when she was 13. Now she is out there recruiting other juveniles as well," said Morrow, adding that finding the girl is "at the top of our list."

The federal effort is also designed to hit pimps with much tougher prison sentences than they would likely get in state criminal courts.

Government prosecutors look to bring racketeering charges or conspiracy charges that can result in decades of jail time.

"Some of these networks of pimps and their organizations are very sophisticated, they're interstate," said Roberts, requiring wiretaps and undercover sting operations to bring charges.

The weekend's roundup marked the third such Operation Cross Country, and is part of a broader federal program launched in 2003 to crack down on the sexual exploitation of children.

Seven Arrested in Beating of Richmond UPS Worker

RICHMOND, Calif. (KCBS/CBS 5) -- Seven people were arrested Saturday in connection with an attack on a UPS employee in Richmond that police are calling a hate crime.
Brandon Manning, who unloads boxes on the overnight shift at a UPS distribution center in Richmond, says he left work early last Saturday and was trying to hitch a ride home when his attackers approached him at a gas station in Pinole.

He says a group of young white men acted friendly and offered him a ride home. He says they were drinking and instead took him to Lamoine Park where he was then attacked.

Manning says his attackers shouted racial slurs as they beat him, causing six fractures to the side of his face.

A Richmond police officer took a report but it was not filed for several days because of a clerical error.

A spokesman for the Richmond police department said that once the error was brought to the department's attention by a member of Manning's family, police acted quickly and the seven men were taken into custody.

The Richmond branch of the NAACP says the lag time in reporting the crime is unacceptable and will investigate why the officer's report was delayed.

Thinking the Klan is dead and organized racism is a thing of the past, local residents expressed shock and disbelief when the body of a woman was found in St. Tammany Parish and eight KKK members were arrested in her death.

While we struggle to alert and educate communities and organizations around the country, it is still largely believed by the populace that these groups are nothing more than an anomaly in our society and pose no danger...think again. The potential for violence is always present.

COVINGTON, La. -- Eight people were arrested Tuesday in connection with the killing of a woman who apparently tried to back out of a Ku Klux Klan initiation ritual, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain said Tuesday.

The woman was slain Sunday morning, allegedly shot to death by a Klan leader from Bogalusa. Her body was found Monday in a ditch in the small St. Tammany community of Sun, about 60 miles north of New Orleans, the sheriff said.

Raymond "Chuck" Foster, 44, is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting the woman. Seven others -- Raymond Foster's son, 20-year-old Shane Foster; Frank Stafford, 21; Timothy Michael Watkins, 30; Alicia M. Watkins, 23; Andrew Yates, 20; Random Hines, 27; and Danielle Jones, 23 -- are facing obstruction of justice charges.

All the suspects are being held in the St. Tammany Parish jail.

Strain said the woman lived near Tulsa, Okla., and was recruited over the Internet to come to Louisiana for initiation into the Klan. Deputies have not been able to confirm her identity.

She arrived in Slidell last week and was met by two members of the group, Strain said. She was taken to a campground near Pearl River for the initiation ceremony, and when she asked to be taken back into town, there was an argument. That's when Foster allegedly shot and killed her, Strain said.

The other members of the Klan group are accused of helping cover up the crime by burning items at the campsite, including the woman's personal effects. A clerk at a nearby Circle K alerted police after two of the suspects went into the store bathroom to wash blood out of their clothes, Strain said.

Investigators found Klan paraphernalia at the campsite, including flags and six Klan uniforms. Strain said Raymond Foster is chief of the "Sons of Dixie" or "Dixie Brotherhood" KKK branch.

Strain said the case does not appear to be connected to the recent election of Barack Obama as president. He told WDSU he was surprised to find out about this KKK group because it hadn't been very visible before.

Nick Herbert: Hate Crime - the limits of the law

Thank you for inviting me to talk to you today. I am especially pleased to be speaking to you on a subject - hate crime - which is of such great importance and relevance to our society today.

Next Sunday, 9 November, is Remembrance Sunday. But it is also the 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht, which saw 92 Jews murdered in the Third Reich and tens of thousands shipped to concentration camps.

The Holocaust which those events began, and the regime that devised and directed it, surely remains for us the most horrific example of the harm that human hatred can cause.

It is the triumph of the 21st Century that so much of that hatred has passed, yet its tragedy that so much remains. 70 years later, the scars in Germany and elsewhere are still so deep that the criminal law is deployed to ensure that history is not revised. When the President of Iran grotesquely describes the Holocaust as "a legend", it is not hard to understand the motivation for ensuring that such views can never take root again. Last month the Australian academic Frederick Toben was controversially arrested in this country, pending his extradition to Germany for the crime of Holocaust denial.

Denying the Holocaust is explicitly or implicitly illegal in 13 European countries. Yet such a law has never been accepted here, and in the United States, Holocaust denial is protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution. No issue could be more sensitive, and none could demonstrate better the acute dilemma which is created by the notion of hate crime, that between the desire to protect minorities from harm, and the desire to preserve free speech.

Striking the right balance has preoccupied Parliament since legislation to protect minorities was first conceived. When, two years after I was born, the Race Relations Act of 1965 was brought in, the Conservative Party opposed it, fearing that making racial discrimination a crime would only exacerbate race relations in areas where it was already a problem. But the Party's view changed. In 1986 we ourselves brought forward the Public Order Act which makes it an offence to stir up racial hatred. This began the move towards outlawing words designed to fuel hatred.

We also supported the current Government's plans for aggravated sentences for hate crime which were introduced in the 2003 Criminal Justice Act. But as the sphere of hate crime legislation increases, our concerns about the potential restrictions on free speech have grown. We pushed for the introduction of a free speech clause in the 2006 Racial and Religious Hatred Act. Most recently, on the issue of incitement to gay hatred, we supported the principle of the new offence, a position which demonstrates the compass of the modern Conservative Party and of which I am proud. But we also moved to ensure that free speech concerns were addressed.

Why hate crime legislation is necessary

In amending the Public Order Act 1986, the Government placed incitement to gay hatred on the same footing as that of racial and religious hatred, a change which led to serious concerns about the balance between protection for vulnerable groups and free speech.

Referring to this latest piece of hate crime legislation, the commentator Johann Hari said:

'Hate crimes laws undermine one of the most persuasive arguments of the gay rights movement. At every step of the way, all we have asked for is the same rights enjoyed by straight people: to have sex, to get married, to adopt. The anti-gay lobby has always claimed we are asking for "special rights", and it has always been a lie. But hate crimes laws do, finally, turn us into a special category. It says that stabbing me is worse than stabbing my heterosexual brother.'

Now I accept that, by its very nature, hate crime legislation singles certain groups out for special treatment, but this is not simply for being gay, or black, or disabled, or Muslim, but for being the victim of a particular type of crime. An assault against a gay man is not treated more seriously because the victim is a gay man, but only if the assault was motivated by the fact that the victim was gay. And the legislation does this for two very good reasons: the heightened emotional effect of such crimes on specific individuals, and because of the fear which cane be aroused in the affected communities.

When a young man is attacked in a random act of violence, or mugged for his ipod, or beaten up in a drunken affray outside a pub, this causes a substantial amount of personal trauma and may contribute to a general climate of fear and concern about crime, but it does not instil a particular fear in the wider community in which it takes place.

But when a black man is beaten up by racist thugs, or a Muslim family's house is daubed with Islamophobic graffiti, or a young gay man is kicked to death on Clapham Common by people shouting homophobic insults, the effect on their respective communities is far more pronounced.

Victims of hate crime experience a form of stigmatisation which carries a clear message that they, and their community, are a target, and that they are of marginal value. These crimes also create mental crime maps of harassment for communities. They contribute to creating no-go areas for some people.

Research suggests that that hate crimes can especially hurt individuals. For example, when looking at evidence of psychological and emotional harm caused to victims of crime it is clear that those who were victims of racially motivated crime present increased cases of shock, anxiety and depression when compared to victims of crimes which were not racially motivated.

I do not intend for one moment to diminish the serious impact of the majority of crimes, but rather I want to draw attention to the particular emotional harm which can be caused by hate crime. Victims of racial hate crime also fear more for future victimisation than victims of almost all other forms of crime, except rape.

It is because hate crimes against individuals make victims of whole communities that Parliament took the decision in the 2003 Criminal Justice Act to signal that crimes fuelled by hatred - hatred of something normally outside the victim's control, be it their race, or sexuality - have wider consequences and must be dealt with more harshly than, for example, acquisitive crime. Whilst enhanced penalties had existed, under the 1991 Criminal Justice Act, courts were not making full use of these powers. For example, in 1997-98, only a fifth of cases where racial motivation was a factor were sentences increased on that basis.

But despite the evidence of a harm 'premium' associated with hate crime, there nonetheless remains a body of opinion that questions the very basis of such legislation. Such criticism of hate crime laws is found on both the Left and the Right of the political spectrum.

The conservative or libertarian objection has been ably articulated by commentators like Melanie Phillips, who has argued that hate crime legislation is an 'Orwellian response to prejudice', and that, by attempting to legislate for people's thoughts and 'bad values', the State oversteps the limits of acceptable boundaries.

These are serious points, but on careful reflection I disagree with them. I believe that hate crimes, where the perpetrator's values strike at the core of the victim's identity, are deserving of a response which targets those very values. Moreover, hate crime legislation no more punishes offenders for their values than does the rest of criminal law.

Those who steal, assault, rape or murder - for whatever reason - make value judgements before committing those crimes. These judgements may be subconscious, and will likely be coloured by many other factors, for example, conditioning borne of childhood experience, the influence of addiction, or mental health problems, but there will be a value judgement made nonetheless. Just because the punishment of 'bad values' in hate crime legislation is more explicit does not mean that the rest of criminal law ignores or downplays these judgements. In fact, in almost all crime the major aggravating factor in determining the punishment is motivation; indeed, the presence of a guilty mind is of course an essential component of criminality. The idea that an offender's thoughts are irrelevant to the offence that has been committed simply does not accord with the fundamentals of our criminal law.

Another prominent commentator From the Left who invoked Orwell was Peter Tatchell, who in 2002 attacked the Government's equality agenda by paraphrasing Animal Farm's proclamation that 'some people are more equal than others'. Curiously, just four years earlier, he had unsuccessfully attempted to get anti-gay hate crime legislation introduced in the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 in order to achieve equality with the protection available to other, specifically racial, groups. That such a prominent gay rights activist has changed his mind is a sign of the dilemmas which hate crime laws throw up. Last year Tatchell argued forcefully that the proposed gay hatred legislation was not the right way to tackle prejudice.

Concerns about the use of hate crime legislation to drive equality cannot not be dismissed out of hand. But I think the best response came from Martin Luther King, who said:

'It is true that behaviour cannot be legislated, and legislation cannot make you love me, but legislation can restrain you from lynching me, and I think that is kind of important'

He repeated:

'While it may be true that morality cannot be legislated, behaviour can be regulate. It may be true that the law cannot change the heart but it can restrain the heartless.'

Free speech

But where the opponents of hate crime legislation really have a point is in relation to the potential infringement of freedom of speech. These concerns will be exacerbated if offences aimed at tackling incitement to hatred are not carefully drafted and enforced.

Free speech is a fundamental and historic liberty in Britain, and Parliament has always been rightly cautious about restraining it. It would be very easy to push harder and harder against the door of liberty in the name of protection for sensitive minorities or the easily offended, but the balance must always be struck so that people are free, and feel free, to voice opinions and disagreement which, even if objectionable, are not directly harmful.

During the passage of the recent Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill we grappled with this issue, attempting to strike the right balance between liberty and protection, and it is a balance with which we also struggled when approaching the religious hatred provisions the Government introduced in 2005.

It was my view during the passage of the latest Bill that we had to delineate between what Stonewall described as 'temperate criticism', which must never be illegal, and language which is so inflammatory that it causes harm or triggers violence. And it is important that the criminal justice system, and those who practice in it, understand that this is the balance on which we as legislators have settled.

It is a fair criticism that, whilst Parliament signalled this broad balance, what actually ended up on the Statute Book does not make it fully clear where the delineation lies.
The so-called 'free-speech clause' which was ultimately added to the Bill in the House of Lords by former Home Secretary Lord Waddington says that 'the discussion or criticism of sexual conduct or practices or the urging of persons to refrain from or modify such conduct or practices shall not be taken of itself to be threatening or intended to stir up hatred'.

This rather dislikeable provision was, I regret, the best which Parliament could do in the restricted time which the Government made available. It now falls upon Ministers to issue clear guidance to the police and prosecutors on how it is to work in practice. It will then be for the courts to declare the right balance when cases present themselves.

However, the balance which I believe should be struck in deciding whether a hate crime is proved, and which reflects Parliament's will, is - to use the expression in the US Supreme Court decision R.A.V. v. City of St Paul - that 'fighting words' fall on the criminal side of the line, but merely offensive comment should not. Parliament has not introduced an offence of thought crime; nor should we.

The police and the CPS must pay attention to crimes of hate, and I applaud the DPP's speech last month on disability hate crime, where he both highlighted areas where prosecutions are failing and signalled a determination to do better. But the response of our law enforcement agencies must always be proportionate and must target the criminal, not just the immoral or unpleasant. Parliament did not intend that harmless abuse should be subject to criminal sanction. People who set out their views about gay practices in a temperate way might still cause offence, as might those who call Irishmen leprechauns, but such comment is not criminal, and should not attract heavy handed policing, still less prosecution. There have been some notorious examples of clumsy enforcement over the past few years. They have undermined public and media support for hate crime laws, and they have rightly made Parliament more cautious about extending the ambit of the criminal law. They have almost certainly also damaged the interests of the minorities which hate crime laws were meant to protect.

The police and Crown Prosecution Service should focus on those who seek to spread violent hatred. They should not be wasting resources on the politically-correct pursuit of neighbours who engage in tasteless insults. We must guard against a culture that allows criminal justice agencies to pursue easy targets while simultaneously allowing preachers of hate to call for the stoning of gay people.

Legislation alone cannot create a civilised society

But as well as things which legislation should not do, that is, infringe free speech without very good reason, there are also things it cannot do.

Hate crime legislation is designed to tackle the outward expression of values, but it also has a purpose in sending out a signal that certain views and values are anathema to civilised society, and that harmful actions emerging from those views will not be tolerated.

All criminal justice legislation must, by its nature, have some element of deterrence in it, and so when Parliament sets out in Statute that incitement to hatred on the grounds of race, religion or sexuality is to be outlawed, we intend that people sit up and take notice. Whether you are a white supremacist encouraging hatred of blacks, or an Imam preaching hatred of gay people, the message from Parliament is clear.

In fact, it is not only criminal justice legislation which seeks to change behaviour, or send a signal about what society considers acceptable. The legal status of marriage, for example, originally authored by the Established Church, clearly demonstrates that this is behaviour which society endorses and, indeed, actively promotes.

However, it would be wrong for politicians to assume that legislation is the only, or even the primary, means to govern public morality. Law making, however much it may send a signal or set a framework for dealing with events, cannot be the sole driver of social change. Whilst we in Parliament can plant a flag on an issue, declaring our intention, we cannot fundamentally alter people's views. Legislation cannot make windows into men's souls.

Let me give you one striking example. Despite all the laws and much progress over recent years, a poll in the Observer last weekend found that 24 per cent of the public think that gay sex should be made illegal. Eight years after the age of consent was equalised, and three years after civil partnerships were introduced, a quarter of the British public want to reverse these changes and take us back to the situation that existed before the 1967 Sexual Offences Act. Some might say that this argues for more laws. I am not so certain.

Attitudes may be constrained by laws, and sometimes led by them, but ultimately it is only by fostering a shared feeling of responsibility that we can promote a tolerant society where people are considerate towards others and their feelings, and where they exercise judgement in what they say and do. If the furore this week about Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross has any lessons for us at all, it is that consideration and judgement can lead to the avoidance of offence. Their offensive behaviour was not just a failing of management at the BBC. It began with a failing of personal responsibility. I am pleased that one of those involved reclaimed a bit of that personal responsibility by choosing to resign.

So we should not believe that laws are a panacea. We will never outlaw hate, any more than we can outlaw anger. But we can set a careful framework to outlaw hatred which really harms, while protecting fundamental liberties. As the former US Attorney General John Ashcroft said, after famously changing his mind and invoking federal hate crime law, "hatred is the enemy of justice".

Magistrate Judge Michael Urbanski has ordered William A. White held without bond

Before I get into my thoughts and speculations about the arrest of Bill White, I think a little background and groundwork has to be laid - especially for those unfamiliar with White’s and my history.

On January 8, 2003, Matthew Fredrick Hale entered the Federal Building in Chicago. As the leader of the fastest growing neo-Nazi group in the United States, Hale traveled with a contingency of his White Berets – the security arm of the, then named, World Church of the Creator.

Matt was pumped and ready for his court date with the Honorable Judge Joan Lefkow. It was a complicated trade-mark case and one that Hale was not ready to lose. However, January 8th wasn’t a very lucky day for him as he lost more than the case – he lost his freedom.

Handcuffed and arrested Matthew Hale was booked into jail for soliciting the murder of none other than the Honorable Judge Joan Lefkow. He is now serving a forty year sentence.

For the next two years the internet racists were abuzz with speculation, innuendo, and incredulity as the process of trial and sentencing drug on. Wild accusations and hundreds of rumors were hurled right and left while behind the scenes the events unfolding were kept secret and unknown to the rank-and-file.

As a matter of fact, there are only a handful of people who really know what things were unfolding during that time and one thing for sure is, there is no loyalty among the racists.
As the federal government applied the pressure to make its case against Hale, those in the know were bailing, scurrying for cover, or simply rolling over. And there was a lot of rolling over.

It’s important to note that I, and Citizens Against Hate, had been focusing much of our attention on Matthew Hale for several years prior to his arrest. We reported on his activities and those of his members and conducted several interviews with Matt himself. Believing that Hale was one of the most dangerous of the neo-Nazi’s in America, it was our goal to keep very close tabs on him and his group.

Because of the attention we gave to Hale, it was not at all surprising that we became involved in the trial and events surrounding the testimony and the disposition.

While many of our sources for information remain confidential, suffice it to say that we were privy to many of the inner-workings and information largely reserved for “insiders.”

Hale had a large following by today’s standards. Many of those “followers,” however, displayed no real loyalties to the man or to the “movement” when the chips were down. Afraid for their own freedom, worried about their families or their jobs, they became a veritable wealthy source of information for the government. Not all were required to testify – as a matter of fact, only a fraction were called upon.

In the end, justice was served and the World Church of the Creator became the Creativity Movement and various factions thereof. None of these factions can even be considered as being a serious part of the movement today.

Given all of this, one would think that this page of the racist history book could be closed. But, things have a way of coming around full circle. Matt Hale sits in a maximum security cell surrounded by his legal appeals and prison guards, but there are others who bear watching. One of those people is Bill White.

William Alexander White doesn’t like it when I write about him. But I write about him anyway. Actually, he has been a primary focus of mine and Citizens Against Hate since the incarceration of Hale.

As with Matt, I consider White dangerous as well – not because of any physical threat that he poses to anyone but because he is a master manipulator and extreme narcissist. While White doesn’t have much in the way of a following, he has the ability to shape and mold the unsuspecting as well as the attraction for those equally as unstable as he.

During the Hale trial, Bill White attempted to insinuate himself into the proceedings through his writings and web site often speaking as if he had been in attendance – which he had not. In a back-and-forth with long-time Hale friend, Kathy Robertazzo regarding an audio tape where Hale could be heard saying, “…anybody who kills a Jew should not spend any time in jail,” Bill White made the following comment…

“I also agree, killing any of the hate Jews who are wrecking this society should not result in jail time.”

Within his writings, which are generally always peppered with the sputum of the insane, he has always been quite fond of trying to make himself appear omnipresent and much more important than he really is. The majority of people who read any of what he prints can sift through his narcissistic back-pats and realize quickly that he is quite demented. However, his irresponsible behaviors became much more than tiresome, they became detrimental to the well-being of innocent people.

In a frenzy over the testimony of Tony Evola, a government informant, during the Hale trial, Bill White published Evola’s home address and phone number – only it was for an Anthony Evola - a completely unrelated person to the informant. White’s actions resulted in an innocent family being harassed and terrorized and placed under police protection. White would later claim…

“After my company published Tony Evola's personal information, the FBI held a press conference. Did they denounce us by name? No -- they mentioned our headlines, and said that they were "maybe" trying to find a way to "legally" shut us down. Why did they hem and haw and hedge their words? Because they knew there was about shit they could do, but they wanted to sound tough for you dopes who persist in believing that the government has a duty to shut down all criticism of Jews, everywhere. Hale was a strawman, and the papers published his name everywhere; we are not strawmen, and the FBI fears to name us.”

In truth, the press conference came after the information that White published had been picked up by others and made the rounds on message boards noted to be frequented by the lunatic fringe of our society. Additionally, the information that he posted was absolutely erroneous and brought much grief to innocent people. However, in his egomaniacal fashion, he tried to seem important enough to cause the Federal Bureau of Investigation to call a press conference.

In truth, they mentioned no website by name. Yet in the news accounts that were on TV, the website shown to have the information available belonged to Hal Turner. This was just a real hard pill for Bill White to swallow. Not only did they not mention him or Overthrow - they showed a picture of a website other than his. Consequently, he felt compelled to do some damage control so that others would find him to be an important person in all of this.

Since they failed to mention the self-aggrandized Bill White and his website by name, it had become incumbent upon him to portray them as weak and impotent in an effort to cajole them into giving him more attention.

Affiliating himself with Hale afforded him an opportunity, as he perceived it, to boost his site ratings, thereby validating his effectiveness and worthiness in the movement. Yet, he could not allow Hale to appear more virile than he was. Therefore, he reduced him to a "strawman" and in the next breath, elevated himself to that of potency. Claiming that the FBI "fears" him because of his dominion, in his eyes, made him appear untouchable and all-important.

Perception is everything, right?

In his continued quest for recognition, Bill White would continue with the baiting of law-enforcement and others…

“LSN has considred releasing the names and addresses of the jury members, but has decided to defer that decision until the current climate of hate and hostility, stoked up by the Jewish press and violent members of the FBI, has passed.”

And so it continued. White, with little to no first-hand knowledge of the trial or the players used his website and his keyboard to attempt to catapult himself into the arena of the courtroom and public opinion seeking nothing more than attention.

Fabricating stories, insinuating himself into situations he believes will bring him notoriety, manipulating the gullible, and exploiting those who he can along the way has become a way of life for Bill White. His voracious appetite for attention is widely known and he has become a pariah in the hate movement. This week, however, he may have finally met his destiny – a fate blueprinted by himself and brought to fruition with his own hands.

In 2005, Judge Joan Lefkow arrived home to find her husband and mother brutally murdered in her basement. All eyes were once again focused on Matthew Hale who sat in a jail cell awaiting sentencing.

It’s important to state that prior to Hale’s arrest he had been embroiled in the aforementioned trademark suit with Judge Lefkow and he and his followers had seen fit to publish all of the personal information about the Judge on various websites and message boards.

Immediately after the murders, Hal Turner, a racist, internet talk-show host, posted a picture of the judge with the caption “GOTCHA” as well as the personal information on other federal judges he felt were deserving of “attention.”

Not to be outdone, Bill White wrote an article about the murders in which he stated…

“I don't feel bad that Judge Lefkow's family was murdered today. In fact, when I heard the story I laughed. "Good for them!" was my first thought.

“Everyone associated with the Matt Hale trial has deserved assassination for a long time. At the time, I believe I said that if I were Hale and I was being railroaded like this I would kill -- not the judge -- but the ADL officers involved and their witnesses.

“Yesterday, when the ADL officials and FBI agents and federal prosecutors and federal judges who are responsible for the persecution of the white race went to bed, they had no fear that they would ever be held accountable for any unreasonable or immoral ruling against a white activist. White activists were ridiculed. They were mocked. They were the kind of silly Jewish-television- show bad guy that anyone could kick around and know they could get away with it. For all the propaganda alleging white activists are "violent" "terrorist" or "dangerous", to the Jewish system white nationalists were nothing more than a bunch of fringe losers, not to be taken seriously.

“Tonight, as these same ADL officials and FBI agents and federal prosecutors and federal judges go to bed, they have to think that tomorrow they may wake up and find their families murdered…”

As it turned out, the person responsible for the murders of Judge Lefkow’s family was not believed to be part of the racist movement. Yet, the Hal Turner’s and Bill White’s of this world, ever the opportunists, sought to capitalize on the heinous crime.

For those who believe neo-Nazi’s and hate groups to be inconsequential in modern society, it should be pointed out that the actions and the crimes that are associated with such groups has often resulted in changing the system of jurisprudence that we all live under today.
The irresponsibility of those who published the personal information of judges on the internet resulted in a push for limitations being placed upon the very freedoms that these groups cloak themselves in. As an outgrowth of their actions and the murder of these two innocent people, a new law was passed outlawing any such publications in the future.

Now, in a sane society of sane people, it would be sane to believe that all of this would have put an end to the outlandish acts of Bill White. It would be sensible to assume that White would be more responsible in the future. But, the world of Bill White is not sane, rational, or sensible. His insatiable need for recognition continued to spiral out of control.

In 2007, Bill White was presented with a national incident that gave rise to what might be his last hurrah. The case of the Jena 6 brought civil rights groups and leaders into the national forefront as they marched through the streets of Jena, Louisiana in protest of unequal treatment for six black teens and the racist actions of city officials.

White saw this as the ultimate opportunity for him to garner national attention – and he got busy. Railing against the Reverand Al Sharpton and others, Bill White called for the lynching of what had been dubbed the Jena 6, located and published the addresses and phone numbers of the families of the six youths, as well as that of the Sharpton’s.

White had also done the same thing with Pulitzer Prize winner, Leonard Pitts, earlier in the year because of an exception that the racists took with an article that he had published – but the Jena case created an even bigger stir – and Bill White wanted big.

But, even that eventually died down. It seemed that no matter how hard he tried, no matter what he did, he was not getting precisely what he wanted. Even his members in his American National Socialist Worker’s Party were becoming irreverent and disrespectful. He wanted a bigger issue.

The hallmark of a depraved individual is often found in the disdain that he has for those closest to him. Over the years, Bill has been notorious for, not just his lashing out at minorities, but for his abuse of others in the movement. Much of this comes from his narcissistic personality and his perception that no one is as good or as smart as he is.

He has consistently surrounded himself with others who are considered the outcasts of the racist front – this, I believe is purposeful on the part of White. Much as the teen-aged girl who has little confidence in herself often befriends only those who are less attractive in an effort to feel superior, White adopts those who are less intelligent, easily duped, and more malleable. Then he discards them.

He doesn’t just throw them away, however. He uses them as his emotional punching bags. He castigates them, he publicly berates and belittles them, and he deals heavy blows of humiliation. This is an outcropping of his own personal dilemma – his own insecurities – his own need for self-validation.

As members of his group were bailing out and he was banished from one of the largest forums on the net, Bill was not doing well. At one point this Spring, he finally admitted to being seriously depressed and made the following statements…

“Combined with this dead feeling I realized the other day that I have, almost without realizing it, though that may seem a bit strange, developed a very intricate plot for the murder of about a score of Roanoke City’s Negro nuisances and their annoying counterparts at the Roanoke Times. I know everything about these assholes – where they live, who they live with, what they look like, where they go, when they go there. I estimate I could probably, in the course of a few hours, kill fifteen out of the twenty easy if I picked the right day and time, and still lived long enough to travel the country and begin picking off the ridiculous “independent journalists” that staff the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Report. I have a list of those as well. What’s amazing is that I’ve been doing this almost without paying attention to it, until I started thinking about things the other day.
“The other day I read something, as it happened, about post traumatic stress disorder. It was completely random, but something struck me when it mentioned dissociation. I was a psych major with biological and clinical foci at University of Maryland; I studied stuff like this. I realized that dissociate was an extremely good term for what I was doing. The other day I drew a gun and was ready to kill one of my tenants, based mostly on behavior from the tenant that while violent and disruptive, would usually have rolled off my back. As I’ve thought about things the past few days, I’ve realized that I’ve been avoiding confrontations solely to avoid killing people. As my list of people to kill has grown, it has become rather paralyzing.”

A couple of months ago, Bill announced that he intended to publish and distribute a “mini-magazine,” if the funds could be raised. He baited other racists with a proposed cover that depicted presidential candidate Barack Obama speaking to a large crowd. The picture contained a target on Obama’s head and a caption of “Kill This Nigger.” Needless to say, a chill was sent up and down the spine of most readers.

Where is the proverbial line, we asked? Had Bill White finally stepped over that line? Maybe.

In the midst of all of this it was announced that Matt Hale had filed an appeal to reduce his sentence. Claiming that his counsel was lacking and that a key juror had ties to Northwestern University where a former member of his Church had committed a shooting and that the juror had an African-American boyfriend and should have been excluded, Hale filed for a reduction in his 40 year sentence.

Bill White saw another opportunity. He dug up the name and personal information of the juror and published it on his website. The juror then began to receive phone calls and text messages of a threatening nature. At least one of those calls was placed by Bill White using his wife’s cell phone.

On Friday, October 17th, 2008, Bill White was arrested. The initial indictment lists the intimidation of said juror and cites many of the incidents mentioned here. It should also be noted that charges and evidence brought before a grand jury are generally just enough to achieve an indictment and rarely indicates everything in the government’s case.

Bill was denied bail this morning pending a hearing on Wednesday, October 22nd. Reactions to this turn of events has been cautious among the anti-racist crowd. Within the White Nationalist circle, however, the news has been met with cheers, I-told-you-so’s, and pessimism mixed in with a few, very few, well-wishes.

Bill saw the handwriting on the wall last week when his computers were seized and word came down that some of his previous supporters had been subpoenaed to testify before the grand jury. With lot’s of finger-pointing and name calling he named those he believed to be the “rats” and the “snitches” and a couple who he threw in just for good measure.

Will the government be able to bring an iron-clad case against Bill
White? I guess we will just have to wait and see. For now, at any rate, we can only say for certain that the man once known as the “Millionaire Nazi” may not be so rich after all. Money definitely doesn’t buy everything – and falling off of a self-made pedestal is really a hard fall.

Roanoke neo-Nazi jailed on federal charges

William A. White, commander of the Roanoke-based American National Socialist Workers Party, was being held without bond this morning in the Roanoke City Jail, according to Lt. Mark Sweentenberg of the Roanoke Sheriff's Office.

Asked what White is charged with, jail officials referred questions to federal authorities. "That's all we know, that he's a federal inmate," Sweetenberg said.

Kevin Foust, a senior FBI agent who supervises the bureau's Roanoke office, referred questions to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Chicago.

Officials there were not immediately available for comment.

However, a copy of what appears to be a search warrant recently used to seize White's computer equipment, which White posted to a Yahoo message group earlier this week, indicates a Chicago link to a federal investigation into his activities.

The warrant authorized FBI agents to search a Patterson Avenue building that houses the computer equipment White uses to maintain his Web site, overthrow.com. According to the warrant, authorities were looking for computer files and other records "that may contain all evidence of the crime of threatening Hale Juror A."

In an interview earlier this week, White said that's a reference to a juror in the case of Matthew Hale, who was convicted by a Chicago jury in 2004 of soliciting the murder of a U.S. District Court judge.

White said he recently included information about the juror, including a home address, in an overthrow.com posting that raised concerns about the case. But White said he made no threats against the juror.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, an Alabama organization that monitors hate groups, agreed on its Web site that White did not directly propose violence against the juror.

"But he told his readers that the man 'played a leading role in inciting both the conviction and the harsh sentence that followed," a blog item on the law center's Web site states. "He also described the conviction as wrongful and said the prison term handed Hale was a 'criminally long sentence.' "

Mark Potok, director of the law center's Intelligence Project, said Thursday that while White has often come close to the line between free speech and criminal activity, he may have finally crossed it by posting personal information about a juror.

Federal authorities are particularly sensitive about protecting jurors in cases such as Hale's, Potok said.

Since the FBI seizure of White's computer equipment last Saturday, overthrow.com has been down.

But White apparently was not charged until recently. In a posting to a Yahoo message group for white supremacists, made either late Thursday night or sometime during the day Friday, someone identifying himself as White said the FBI had just executed a second search warrant, this one on his home.

"They left remarking on how they did not have anything with which to chargesme [sic] and they needed to plan theyre [sic] next step," the post stated.

With White now in jail, the next step will be an arraignment before a magistrate judge, which could happen as early as Sunday afternoon.

BILL WHITE - A HISTORY - PART III

KAISER BILL

A master of self promotion? Well, for awhile, maybe. Any attempts by Bill White to promote himself have met with minimal and transient success. While self-aggrandizement is White's stock-in-trade, disinformation is his schtick. As an anarchist, Bill White was laughed at and rarely taken seriously, as a Nazi he is lucky to still be breathing and running around free. For about a minute, White did a stint writing for "Pravda," the paper of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. But, sometime in 2000, White began to pen articles favorable to the racist right in general and to the National Alliance in particular. This got him in the door with Billy Roper who was Deputy Membership Coordinator for the NA at that time. And this also was the kiss of death for Mr. White. In an interview with White Revolution, White attempts to explain his metamorphosis:

"In 1999, after Columbine, I had a series of revelations about the movement I was involved in and its nature. I had become interested in the corruption of anti-racist groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center, and became doubly interested in organized Judaism through some things that had been said about me to Reuters by the Simon Wiesenthal Center. I began reading both national socialist writings and books critical of communism from a conservative and anti-Semitic perspective, and came to realize that the left-wing movements I had been involved in were a total fraud. You cannot understand the actions of a left-wing group through left-wing analysis; to understand what I was actually seeing on a day to day basis of working with them I had to seek an outside frame of reference.

"What I concluded was that communism was an insane and internally inconsistent doctrine that required its adherents to learn a series of fallacious, untrue, and often complicated arguments in order explain away the every day facts that run in the face of their theory. How can one explain the Communist Party's open alliance with the Democrats except through a series of nearly insane logical leaps?

"As I've learned more, I've come to realize that communism is simply a manifestation of Judaism, particularly of the kinds of Judaism that Jews event to sell to Gentiles. Christian Zionism is the same kind of doctrine, as are liberalism, neo-conservativism, state capitalism, democratic socialism, anti-racism, and the like. Judaism is a spiritual movement of destruction, and all things it creates are created for the purpose of attacking and destroying the creative civilizations of Traditional people. Communism, because it is Jewish, is a blind movement of hate and destruction, which is used by the other movements of hate and destruction, like the Washington Post and the Democratic Party, to weaken the creative spirit and to degenerate and destroy both white people, in our particular, and all those people of the world who adhere to Traditional or creative doctrines."

From a different perspective, that of observing Bill White for a number of years, it appears that, in truth, Bill White never really understood the premise of the left. As someone who is inherently uncomfortable within the confines of any "Movement" largely because it necessitates a certain amount of self-sacrifice, Bill White failed miserably at everything that he attempted. I believe, however, that it was the failure to feed his insatiable ego that crushed him and set him in search of new pastures. The racist right is always in search of those who will preach their brand of anti-Semitism and racism, are historically not very discerning who they let into their ranks, and Bill White said all the right things. While there were those who were not quite as welcoming as some, there were others who, taken in by White's rhetoric, began to follow his writings. In many ways, Bill White's move to the radical right was fortuitous for the left in general and ant-racists in particular.

The Narcissistic Personality must play in the spotlight at all times. That Bill White was not mentally healthy had already been evidenced in his past actions and words. His new-found acceptance among the racists was a real ego-trip for White but, as is true with the narcissist, it was never quite enough. White refused to call himself a "racialist" stating, "I try to avoid being part of any "ism". "Isms" are very constraining, and they encompass much more than just a political philosophy, but also imply certain cultural or personal-social traits, or a certain approach to life and living. I'm a Bill White-ist, but I love white people, particularly white working people, and I want to see them survive and suceed."And a "Bill White-ist" is precisely what he is. The self-love of narcissism does not allow the love or dedication to anyone or anything other than the narcissist. While Bill White might say and do all of the right things, it was not understood by the racist right that all things with White are wholly superficial as they are only a means to an end - the validating of Bill White.

As the National Alliance started to fracture, Bill White saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship while publishing a scathing attack on the Alliance. The firing of Billy Roper by Alliance leader, Erich Gliebe, had already created a huge divide among the membership. Lurid tales of corruption, mismanaged funds, promiscuity and drugs within the compound were running rampant among the racists. Seeing an opportunity to further his own personal appetite for drama and acknowledgment, White decided to join forces with Alex Linder of Vanguard News Network and Billy Roper of White Revolution in an attempt to topple the largest organized hate group in America. White was tenacious, publishing rumors and innuendoes as well as out right lies about the leaders of the National Alliance, claiming knowledge of the in-fighting among the Board of Directors, and others within the ranks, White became a formidable foe of the organization and of Erich Gliebe and Kevin Alfred Strom. Admittedly, there were many moments where we sat back and cheered Bill White on in his endeavors - we even began to wonder if he wasn't really on our side. What soon became apparent, however, was that Bill White had entered a manic phase of his disorder. No longer was he content to be noticed. No longer was he satisfied with an occasional pat on the back. He needed more, much more, than what his new found "friends" were giving him.

At some point, White hooked up with, one time White Power financier, Marc Moran. It seems that White had caught Moran's eye on the campaign trail and that Marc had contributed to his campaign. Marc had been a friend and contributor to VNN and Alex Linder. There had been some discussion between Linder and Moran about building a business to support Vanguard News Network. Hence the idea of "Shop White," an ebay type business for white people, was born. Marc Moran then fingered Bill White for assisting in the building and hosting of the business. This, of course, appealed to the ego of White and since he had been boasting around the net about being "independently wealthy," he, obviously had the time to devote to building and maintaining the site from a technical aspect. At the same time, there had already been bad blood between the National Alliance and Alex Linder, and there were some pretty harsh words thrown back and forth. National Alliance member, Chester Doles had been arrested and was facing a lot of jail time. Linder and others in the "Movement" felt that the Alliance had dropped the ball on raising funds for his defense. Vanguard News Network issued a challenge to those on the racist right. Setting a deadline, they claimed to have an anonymous benefactor who was willing to match whatever funds were donated, and the cash started rolling in. The National Alliance couldn't take public issue with this as it would certainly put them in a negative light. But the finger-pointing and discussions that ensued were more than just a little heated. Whatever fissure had started among the membership swiftly became a chasm.

During the fund-raising, Bill White kept the pressure on the Alliance, but was loosing ground among the general population as his self-love was becoming more and more evident. Many started questioning his dedication to the movement and began to delve into his anarchist past. While his writings against Jews and other minorities were often appreciated among the right, it was becoming more and more obvious that any "news" that he reported was greatly embellished and spun to the point of illegitimacy. White, witnessing much the same attitude as he had faced with the anarchist crowd, seem to spin completely out of control right before our very eyes. Struggling to maintain the attention that he thrives upon, and fighting to keep his short-lived stature among the only people who he had ever felt accepted by, Bill White began to self-destruct.

Marc Moran, the "financial spine" of VNN, had stepped into the political arena, filling a vacated seat on the City Council in Hopewell Burroughs. It wasn't long, however, before Moran's true identity and racist allegiances were made known the town's elected officials. Amidst a media frenzy and public outcries, Moran stepped down - he also stepped out of the picture. What was unbelievable to many of the racists was not only did he turn tail and run for cover, he had entrusted "Shop White" as well as the technical end of VNN to none other than Bill White. The announcement sent shock-waves through the mood of the anti-National Alliance camp. There was disbelief followed by anger - and plenty of it. With a vengeance the racists took to the internet denouncing Moran for not standing tall in his racialist beliefs. And there was much speculation as to why anyone would leave "Kaiser" Bill in charge of anything. Once it was learned, however, that Moran had been the anonymous benefactor for the Chester Doles fund, most of the members were silenced in their harangue. It wasn't until White came forth with his plans for the future of Shop White that the proverbial shit hit the fan.

Initially, it was speculated among members that Bill White had been the person to "out" Marc Moran to the voters of Hopewell Burroughs. White was, after all, the first person to break the story on Moran. He followed that with a diatribe about "Zog Agents" and a call for others on the right to make phone calls to those officials who ousted Moran. White published the names, addresses, and phone numbers of the town leaders and encouraged others to use them and voice their displeasure. For days White cajoled and prodded others to take action. The real comedy here, however, was when Bill made numerous phone calls to an official issuing obscenities and racial ephitets using his own cell phone. Of course, Caller ID captured his number.

Realizing that he was in the driver's seat when it came to Shop White and VNN, it didn't take long for the narcissistic White to engage in his typical display of muscle flexing and jaw flapping. Claiming to only be interested in the wants and needs of white people, Bill explained how Shop White would work. He posted the "Terms of Agreement. When it was realized that the TOA that White posted gave White the autonomy to do whatever he wanted with the information provided by users - including their credit card numbers - there was a roar that could be heard throughout the darkest reaches of cyber-space. The megalomania of Bill White came back and bit him squarely on the ass. The onslaught against Bill White was relentless. At one point, White accused those who were railing against him of being sent by Kevin Alfred Strom. Incapable of silencing the protests and unable to regain any footing within the racist movement White published a letter on his site supposedly from an "LSN Reader." That letter contained the real names of several key players within the rank and file of the National Alliance. Of course, as thinly veiled as the "LSN Reader" was, everyone knew that it was White. The racists were stunned. Morgan Kashden described it best:

"I have written much about Bill White. I have characterized him as the egomaniacal narcissistic person that he is. I have addressed his continuous attempts to reinvent himself and his pathological need to fit in. I never dreamed that someday I would be saying "Thank You" to Bill White - but I am doing just that. I know that the last thing that White wants at this point in time is thanks from me - but, hey, I'm just that kind of guy! What has ensued is the stuff I dream of - the almost complete decimation of the National Alliance and Vanguard News Network. What more can an anti-racist hope for?

"White Nationalists and neo-Nazi's are really not too crazy about being publicly outed. There are some who use their real names - those are generally the ones who make their living largely from their organizations, however. Marc Moran lamented the use of his real name in his day to day writings and activities for the Alliance. Others cite their jobs, communities and families as reasons not to be identified. For most of us, that is hard to understand. We are generally proud of our organizations and our affiliations with them. But, if you are part of a movement which advocates separation or genocide of other races, violent governmental overthrow or hate crimes - I guess you would be a little more circumspect about announcing your allegiances than if you were a tree-hugger. The racists were both stunned and infuriated. They have been digging up all of the information on Bill White that they can find. Of course, they had already seen him as a quirky little pest who played at being "pro-white," and who with much of his writing was prone to lies and half-truths. But now they are questioning his ethnicity - that is usually what they do when they can't do anything else. Most of those who had been supportive of White, or attempting to assert some calm over a potentially explosive situation, are now incensed by White's actions. Truly laughable in this entire epic of sleaze is that they are questioning White's integrity and character. We have been trying to tell these people for a very long time that if you lay down with dogs, you wake up with fleas. When people of the ilk of these racists become outraged, it is always with such intensity and the outrage is always "morally" based. I guess that the old adage "what you hate in others is often what you hate most about yourself," more than fits in this situation. Perhaps I should clue them in that there is no honor among thieves or racists."

Being almost completely ostracisized by the people who had formerly embraced him, White had no where to turn. And for someone plagued by narcissism that is a bad place to be. He tried to no avail to ingratiate himself to the flock. Publishing news accounts of black on white crime, anti-semitic rantings and harangue against the government White, once again, found himself trying to fit in - somewhere. But it wasn't happening. With his insatiable need for attention reaching a fever pitch, White published tales about Shop White being hacked into by parties unknown. At one point he claimed to have been hacked by Cox Communication. As all of his machinations and lies seemed to fall on deaf ears and to garner nothing more than jeers and guffaws, White found himself sinking further and further into the recesses of leperdom. It is believed that White, in a last ditch effort at demonstrating the many problems that he was having keeping "Shop White" alive, and how unjustly persecuted he had become, entered the VNN forum under an alias and posted the list of "Shop White" customers including their names, addresses, telephone numbers, login names, passwords, and, yes, credit card numbers. The list only lasted a short while on VNN before it was pulled - but that was long enough for it to be circulated around the internet with lightning speed. Not only had the identities and personal information of the customers been made public, but their purchases as well. Imagine the chagrin of Billy Roper when it became known that among his purchases of John Wayne videos were also "Marilyn Manson - Get Your Gunn," "Lords of Acid - Take Control," "Lolita," and "The Sinful Nuns of St. Valentine (An Italian nunsploitation epic in which a demented Mother Superior and a rabid collection of mentally distrubed and sex crazed sisters lose their habits and morals with equal gusto.")

As can readily be imagined, the objections were numerous. White, claiming to have been a victim of a hacker and the subsequent posting of the list by the same, got absolutely no sympathy from the racists. Running out of tricks and needing to regroup, White reached one more time into his morass of mental illness to produce one last ditch effort at regaining the attention of those who he so wished to be part of. He stole VNN and locked Alex Linder out of his own cyber-house. The end result was, of course, a demoralizing defeat for White as Linder's site re-emerged and White was again the butt of jokes from the racists.

Generally speaking, narcissistic individuals require continuous and massive attention. It makes little difference if that attention is positive or negative. If, in fact, the attention is negative they simply convince themselves that they are doing something right or that the sector giving such attention is merely jealous of them. Bill White is certainly a study in classic narcissism. Realizing that none of his stunts were working and that he had lost favor with even the lowest dregs of humanity, White went into overdrive. In an almost deranged paroxysm of maniacal writings, White raged against the Jews, and those on the anti-racist left. Article after article was written and posted in a desperate attempt to win back some of his acceptance. Intermittently between his rantings, White promoted himself. Spouting off about his finances he even wrote articles giving advice on investments. He claimed to be independently wealthy, but the racist right was having none of that. Relentlessly digging into White's background, they nixed his claims at every turn. When he claimed to be in the running for a government contract that would pay him megabucks, he was met with nothing less than derision and scorn. The racists located the names and address of his parents and published them. They accused White of never having held a job and living off of his parents. We got quite a kick out of that one because the same is true of so many of them. And White continued to seek their approval.

Claiming that he had fallen in love and had found his Utopia in a primarily white area of Missouri, White spun a tale of building a house on a hill and leaving Maryland forever. It makes sense that White took that particular track in his search for approval, as it was a road not yet traveled by him. Yearning for acceptance, White spun the utopian dream of all white racists - an all white neighborhood with no crime where children played from dawn to dusk and neighbors looked out for each other. We watched and took guesses at how long this would continue. Narcissists are largely incapable of actual love and commitment to others. Any attempt at a relationship is certain to be disastrous - and this was to be no exception. When the truth emerged, White was living in racist Nazi, Jennifer Adams'(known as "Hooligirl" on the internet) house under a rental agreement with her. According to Adams, White was renting a room in her house. He came into her bedroom one night while she was talking to another guy on the internet and flew into a rage. Things became physical, the police were called and White was forced to leave. Of course, there is the Bill White spin. According to White, Jennifer was unstable and she was the one who flew into a rage and attacked him. Whatever really transpired in that house will probably always be up for speculation. But Bill White filled his site with the saga of he and Jennifer, the police, her parents, and the lawsuit that he filed against her. Unfortunately for White who desperately wanted the world to believe that he and Jennifer were an item, when he sued for money and belongings he admitted to the rental contract that he had with Adams.

White openly went through all of the stages of self-serving grief. He blamed, he lamented, he denied and he raged. Then he ran away. Taking a brief sabbatical, from his beloved LSN, White ran into an old friend - Erica Hardwick-Hoesch. Erica had been part of the "Movement" for quite some time and was experiencing some inner turmoil. In an almost eerie move, White published "Ode to a Beautiful Woman" upon what he believed was a rekindling of an old friendship. Little did he know that Erica was soon to leave the ranks of the racist right to join forces with the anti-racists. Suddenly, a message appeared on his website that stunned both sides of the playing field. It was a proposal to Jennifer Adams. White stated that he had maligned and treated Jennifer badly not knowing that she was pregnant with his child. He begged her to marry him. However, it wasn't long before Adams denied that pregnancy and turned down the proposal:

Just because I am SICK of repeating it, and so many people seem to care... "I am not pregnant and I am not having Bill White's love child. Furthermore, if I was, it would be an immaculate conception. We were only friends and he couldn't handle that. By his own accounts, he is trying to sue me for breach of lease agreement.

According to his own articles he picked my bedroom lock because I locked myself in MY ROOM all day. I was talking to another guy on the net at the time... Everyone who knows me in REAL LIFE knows that I was utterly repulsed by Bill. He did many weird things like pick my locks, go through my drawers... sniffing my dirty underwear, and I even caught him wearing lingerie one time, and it wasn't mine!

He has been emailing me and calling me non-stop. He thinks I must love him if I can hate him sooo much. According to my boyfriend, "He is away with the fairies".

Over the next few months, White continued to make a complete and utter ass out of himself. At one point he issued a threat against the President of the United States. Later he claimed that someone had posted that threat on his website and that he was in contact with the Secret Service over this and the posting of the Credit Card numbers from Shop White. Of course, the racists then labeled him a "snitch" and a "rat." To many of them, Bill White was nothing more than an annoyance. To others, however, he had become a serious liability and someone who had to be stopped. One poster on VNN issued the following plea:

"Any information on Bill White aka William Alexander White, his family, credit card numbers, passwords, criminal history, addresses, friends, web articles is welcome. It can come from a white racialist, ARA, Jews, blacks, whites... we don't care, we all hate William A White all the same. Any peice of information that can put Bill White back into the mental hospital is really wanted."

Yet another went a step further:

"Now, however, it has come to the forefront in many people's minds that Bill White must be permanently neutralized. He must be neutralized by digging up every stone he lurks under, by plastering the Internet with every unsavory story about him, by letting everyone know where he lives, by exposing every little detail about him that can be found, including public records, pictures of where he lives, what his family members look like, where he's been and where he's at now, the car he drives, the company he keeps, even the toilet he craps in."

The threats and "suggestions" being issued took a very ominous turn:

"Isn't it horrible that you will always have to be in hiding for the rest of your life? No more public appearances, no more running for office. And someone is going to visiting that home for sale with your Mom, and she will probably be all alone."

And those who weren't making threats were hurling accusations:

"It is now two weeks to the day since Bill White posted to his web site a direct and unambiguous threat against the life of President of the United States. He seems to be still at large. For the United States Secret Service to have given White a "pass" on this is simply stunning. I notice that almost by common consent the topic seems to have been swept under the rug and seems to have almost disappeared from this board. Vot giffs? "I say it is because as I have said since I first ran into Mr B White, that he is just a CIA asset. Remember kiddies, the Company, as us Old Crows call them can not operate on USA soil, but this sure does give them a chance to get the SS Secret Service involved who can operate on USA soil. Which if this were not cointellpro, why did the mighty SS Secret Service not investigate the Credit card numbers stolen from ShopWhite earlier when credit card fraud is 90% of their normal work."

It became very obvious very quickly that Bill White was dead in the water as far as any usefulness he might have amongst the racist right. Never again would he be accepted or validated by those whose favor he so ardently sought. Once that fact became evident, the speculation as to his next move, or reinvention of himself, might be:

"It is probably time for Bill to "reinvent" himself again.

"I smell "born again anti-racist" and a long tour on the ADL's talk show and rubber chicken dinner circuit. Can you say "Floyd Cochran?" SURE you can!"

We sincerely doubt that Bill White would ever be able to pull that off. His public displays of instability and chameleon machinations have rendered him an outcast from any circle of respectability. Watching Bill White as he entered the last throes of the debilitating mental illness from which he has long suffered, has not been easy on any of us. While White is at that right end of the continuum which we fight, he is, in fact, a human being in pain - and that is not something which we enjoy seeing.

As he entered his last hoorah, White was almost pitiful. The trial of Matt Hale provided him with a little spark. He joined forces with another person in need of therapy, Creator Kathy Robertazzo, and attempted to report on the proceedings as if they were there. The truth is that neither were present and the spin that was put on the daily events was evidence enough that neither knew what in the hell they were talking about. But White had one more trump to play. As the testimony of FBI confidential informant, Tony Evola, gave the jury in the Hale trial enough evidence to convict, Bill White decided that Evola should reap some of what he had sewn. White published the name, address and phone number of Evola on his website with a message for folks to say "Hi." It didn't take long for the information to appear on racist websites throughout cyber-space. While no one really liked Bill White - they disliked Tony Evola even more. The problem, however, came when Mr. Evola started getting phone calls from some very disgruntled and uncouth people. It seems that Bill White had targeted the wrong Anthony Evola! This little stunt by White created a very unsafe atmosphere for a family that was in no way connected to Matt Hale, the racist right, or Bill White. Of course, the FBI found no humor in what White had done. The Fed's swiftly issued a statement stating their concerns and their plans to monitor the sites of the racists. With false bravado, Bill White took a combative and somewhat bellicose stance claiming that the Federal Government would never shut him down. As warnings were issued throughout the racist community to be careful about what is posted on various forums, White was cavorting in his usual rapacious and grandiose way spouting his self-importance and claiming that the FBI was afraid of him.

A couple of last ditch efforts to maintain his own self-gratification were made by Bill White. In a flurry of posts on his website he tried to tie Citizens Against Hate and One People's Project to a shooting that occurred at Brian Moudry's house. Brian is a Creator who had led a protest against the Hale conviction in Joliet, Illinois. His house was shot at later that evening. White also suggested that he might post the names and addresses of the jurors in Hale's trial. This was followed by an article entitled It's Bitch Slappin' Time" which was published on the Citizens Against Hate website. Bill White made a feeble attempt to locate information on those involved with Citizens Against Hate. Taking a screen name of one of the Directors, Roh Larin, Bill White posted a convoluted message on his website that went something like this: The P.O. Box for CAH is in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since there is a lot of trouble which comes from anti-racists out of Cleveland, there is a good chance that they are really based in Cleveland. CAH is also part of Unity Groups and when you do a google search for Unity Groups it takes you to a high school in Cleveland. Additionally, there is a "Larin" listed in Cleveland - a female. Since Roh Larin probably lives with his mother - that is probably the place. Bill White then published the name and personal information for a woman with the last name of Larin who has absolutely no connection whatsoever to Citizens Against Hate. We guess he learned nothing from his Tony Evola fiasco. Of course, the authorities were notified as well as the innocent woman.

As was stated earlier, we are not profiling Bill White because he is a racist or anti-Semite. We believe that the convictions that he claims to hold are absolutely superficial and transient in nature. Having an understanding of the illness that appears to plague Bill White helps in that area. As with relationships, we do not believe that Bill White is capable of maintaining a convicted stance for or against anything. It appears that White's sole existence is controlled by his need for acceptance and validation. Consequently, his political standing, ideological leanings and philosophy on life and its issues merely change when the need arises for more or greater attention. However, Bill White should not be discounted as a harmless nut floating around the internet. Bill White is a dangerous persona. His ability to lie and deceive and fabricate is going to get someone hurt. His intelligence matched with his adeptness at divisionary tactics pits one person or group against another. His lack of remorse and societal understanding borders on sociopathic psychosis and should never be written off as non-threatening. Therefore, Bill White will remain within our radar screen as long as he continues to be a menace to society.

It's easy to dismiss those on the extremist right as "Whacko" or "Nuts" or "Insane." The truth of the matter is, however, that the vast majority would not meet the criteria set for mental illness. Sadly, the vast majority are perfectly sane with outrageous views. Every once in awhile, however, someone emerges who defies all claims of sanity. Such is the case with Bill White.

We are not profiling Bill White because he poses a threat as a racist or anti-semitist. While he spews the rhetoric and the venom, it is questionable how much he really believes in what he is saying and how much he says these things just for attention. In reality, Bill White doesn't fit into any boxes. He is not an adherent to any organization or ideology. He simply flies by the seat of his pants reinventing himself along the way. That he has chosen the racist right to hitch his wagon to isn't surprising since he could never lean far enough left or be honest enough in his endeavors to fit in among the anarchists he initially chose. We are profiling Bill White because we believe that he is a dangerous man who will do ANYTHING to get attention, who will do ANYTHING to be accepted, and who might do ANYTHING if he fails.

It has been reported that as a youth Bill White was a troubled person. Though intelligent and articulate, White seemed to always be in trouble. At an early age, White started developing an interest in political issues and it has been reported by a middle school teacher that he would debate "anything and everything." While this could be construed as a helthy intellectual exercise, in White's case he simply became more and more aggressive in his questioning and served no other purpose than to be disruptive in the classroom. Generally, youths engaging in such overtly disruptive acts are seeking attention and recognition. Once he entered high school, according to research compiled by One People's Project, the aggression displayed in middle school debate escalated to a physical confrontation with a female teacher for which he received a three day suspension.

White attended three different high schools where he engaged in disruptive and aggressive behaviors throughout. It is reported that in his last school he was voted "Most Likely to Appear on America's Most Wanted," an honor he apparently is trying to live up to in his daily escapades today.

After high school, White attended Montgomery College for a year and then moved to the University of Maryland. Interestingly enough, and perhaps most compelling, is the fact that White was studying psychology and expressed a desire to work with troubled teens. Considering Bill's own problems as a youth, this, in and of itself, is not too surprising. His approach, however, to providing help for those children in need, however, is most troublesome.

In February of 1996, White was supposedly told by the friends of a young, emotionally disturbed teenager, that the girl was suffering abuse at the hands of her parents. Apparently they gave White all of the girl's personal information. It took White no time at all to begin posting messages to various groups on the internet about the rumored situation. Within minutes, readers were urged to call the parents and "tell her you are disgusted and you demand that she stops." Subsequently, threatening phone calls unnerved the girls parents. In an article that appeared in the Washington Post,it was revealed that much of the information shared with White by the girls friends, came from a highly confidential counseling session, and that the young lady was being seen for emotional problems. The family became extremely distraught over the invasion of their privacy and the threatening phone calls. In an interview with White, the Post quoted him as saying:

"You should be able to write what you want on the Internet, whether it's true or not."

Apparently, Bill White still believes that statement today.

Concurrently, White was honing his own brand of anarchist thought - a lot of which centered around teens. White founded the "Utopian Anarchist Party" and set forth an agenda to "eliminate the government of the United States and not replace it." Two of the stated goals were "the elimination of coerce public schooling and the elimination of coercive juvenile psychiatry." Additionally, White and a couple of his cohorts started the "Runaway Railway," a shelter for runaway teens. On his UAP website, White published the following message:

"To the dismay of the police and the media (Washington Post, July 26, 1996, page A1) the Utopian Anarchist Party has initiated a program to assist young people who have been abandoned or forced to leave their homes. If you are young and alone and have nowhere to go, or if your parents are trying to lock you up or otherwise abuse you, contact the Utopian Anarchist Party and we'll do whatever we can to help you, regardless of state or local laws. The UAP provides youth support, and doesn't care about the consequences."

White then provides a link to his "Rules For Running" where he lists the Do's & Don't's for running away:

Packing

Big Backpack -- no purses or carry bags (you'll lose them)
No identification -- cops can't call in what you don't have
Personal Care -- toothbrush, razors, deodorant, soap, etc.
Clothes and coat -- wear as much as possible, pack extra
Good shoes/Boots -- you're gonna do a lot of walking
Gun/Knife -- carry concealed; it's dangerous out there
Money -- take it, and don't rely on pawning valuables
Drugs -- primarily for sale; great source of income
Book or two -- you'll have lots of free time

People

Friends -- pick and choose carefully
Boyfriend/Girlfriend -- safe, unless "they know best"

Additionally, White then provides explicit instructions on making drugs and, at one point, making bombs.

According to Mark Salotte, "Among the UAP's advertised "programs" was something called the "Runaway Railroad" -- supposedly set up to offer safe houses and resources to runaway teenagers.trying to start life independently of their parents. This was an example of a project desperately needed in the anarchist movement, which led maybe a few of us to hopefully believe White's "movement" was for real. In reality, however, the so-called "railroad" was most likely (to the extent that it even existed) just a scam for Bill to find underage girls to hook up with and influence. Most of the anarchist movement concluded that he was useless and dangerous at best, and most likely a police agent provocateur to boot. Still, a few people who didn't have to deal too closely with him held out judgement in the hopes that he might be just ignorant but well-intentioned and enthusiastic."

How well-intentioned White was will probably never be known. It has been reported, however, that White got busted with certain articles of clothing in his car that belonged to a runaway girl.

All of these things, however, didn't draw too many cries of outrage among the anarchists. Most of the negatives were directed at White personally because of his obvious and overt manipulations of the ideology, in what appeared to be an exercise in self-glorification on the part of White. The true outrage didn't surface until it was believed that he was in the process of exploiting children.

In May of 1996, White boasted about a police investigation of him that was centered around runaways in Gaithersburg:

"A team of Montgomery County investigators, headed by Detetctive Victor A. Kennedy of the Youth Services Division of the Wheaton-Glenmont District, and in concjunction with the City of Gaithersburg and other local jurisdictions, have been invesitgating local anarchists and anarchist sympathizers for providing asistance, including shelter, transportation and other services, to several runaways. Two sought after runaways were captured in a raid in Gaithersburg, and police have interrogated seveal people and have threatened to arrest prominent anarchist Bill White (me) after officers searched his car during a traffic stop."

Furthering his outrageous pseudo-anarchist stance, White issued the following statement in regard to the runaway investigation:

"Anarchy is a righteous philosophy, and our sympathizers will continue to act in a righteous manner. The youths in question are trying to escape from homes filled with brutal beatings, vicious threats, and serious mental and emotional abuse, and we will not allow those youths or any other youths to be returned to those households against their will. Let the police come, for we will fight and die before we allow them to deny these peole their rightful freedom."

Sometime during this period, White got into a scuffle with the police and was arrested. It has been reported that White was placed in a psychiatric facility for a brief period, and that would fit considering the absurdity of his actions. During the time that he was away, however, White left Luke Kuhn in charge of the UAP. This was, undoubtedly, the crowning blow to his anarchist organization. As much as Bill White was disliked by others in that realm, Kuhn was liked even less.

Needing more attention than what he was getting, White strove for new heights of malevolence when 14-year-old Michael Carneal, the son of a prominent attorney, walked into the crowded lobby of Heath High School in Kentucky on December 3, 1997, and opened fire killing 3 and wounding 5 others, Bill White made the following statement:

"The only thing Michael Carneal did wrong was not take out more of these Christian pigs. By eliminating three future Bible-thumping lunatics he did America a service, and we should thank, and not revile, him for it."

No one could figure out where White was coming from. Generally speaking, anarchists aren't racist or anti-semitical. They believe in self-determination and self rule. Bill White, sparked anger among the group with his often racist statements and claims. Some attempted to categorize him as a "Third Posisitionist," and those who fit nicely into that category didn't want to claim him among their ranks either. It seemed that White fit in nowhere. And, for a narcissist, that is not unusual but to this narcissist it was totally unacceptable.

Always striving for acceptance and attention, White threw his hat into the political arena in 1998. He announced his candidacy for a Montgomery County School Board seat. Knowing that he had no following to speak of, White made a mockery of the race. On his election profile White was asked to list his previous elected offices or his civic activities. His response:

"Utopian Anarchist Party; marched in Communist May Day rally, May 1998; protested against police cover-up of police brutality in Montgomery County; burned flag at anti-Gulf War rally; organized with Refuse and Resist! for abortion rights."

When asked why people should vote for him, White replied: "Look, let's be honest-democracy is a sham. It's a charade played by the ruling class to give the rest of us the illusion of power. Candidates are pre-selected for the ballot by political parties owned by the rich. This election, I say don't 'Rock the Vote,' I say '[Expletive] the vote.' Don't worry about electing me-even if elected, they wouldn' t let an [expletive] like me do anything. Vote for me because you hate them. Vote for me because you hate the way they smile as they kill you. Vote for me because you want them to rot."

Of course he lost the election. For most of us, we could chalk such immaturity up to a rebellious nature that thrived on being iconoclastic. Generally, however, such rebelliousness is outgrown and redirected into more positive energies. Classically narcissistic people become welded in their quest for attention and acceptance. Rarely can they sate their thirst. Such appears to be the case with White.

On the morning of April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold went on a shooting rampage at Columbine High School in Colorado. They killed 12 students and a teacher. Seeing this as an opportunity to gain media attention, Bill White publicly applauded the shooters and called for support of their actions:

"We have to remember that people who go and shoot up their schools are not acting as tyrants here. These are oppressed people who are struggling against society and who are now fighting society in the only way they know how. These students have spent their lives tortured by society, and now they are fighting back. We have to admire them for doing it. How many of us will ever fight back?"

As his comments ired those who read them, he claimed to have brought one CNN reporter to the brink of tears with his caustic and hateful remarks. Seeing that he was becoming popular with the media because of his outlandish statements, White decided to capitalize on the attention by asserting that these children had been members of his Utopian Anarchist Party. Setting the stage for this announcement, White reported:

"The showdown is still ongoing, as anarchists today say the two men involved may be local Utopian Anarchist Party organizers. Confirmation of the men's identities has not been made. "The two men, students at the school, entered the school around 11:30 AM, during lunch, and began shooting the preppy bitches who had spent their lives bullying and picking on the shooters."

White demonstrated his lack of compassion for the victims and their families at every turn. Preaching anarchy and violence, he penned the following:

"What saddens me most in Colorado is not that someone got shot; people are shot every day, and the people who were shot in Colorado are not particularly blessed people. What saddens me is that the people who were shot were not the most deserving. What saddens me is that the message being sent has been dulled by the choice of target. Had this shooting occurred outside a police station, or outside the NATO conference, or outside the White House, it would have been much more effective.

"I understand the anger students feel against the preppy bastard "white hats". I understand the hatred of drone society and drone culture. I understand feeling that one cannot live within drone society, and I understand the feeling that suicide is one's only viable option. Before any UAP supporter commits suicide, I would commend to them the kind of glorious, vengeful death seen in Colorado today.

"These two students said they found God in themselves. I agree. Man is God. This revelation, that the individual, and no outside power, is in control of the individual's destiny is often a difficult load to bear. It is the duty of the anarchist movement to teach individuals that they are in power, and that they can change, and that instead of striking back randomly they should strike back with precision at the most responsible and most evil elements of our society.

"I would prefer that no one had been killed today, and that the young people involved had been turned into revolutionaries rather than suicide bombers. I would prefer the 'victims' had been educated and transformed rather than brutally murdered. But there are times when brutal murder is inescapable, and it is not for me to judge the situation without full knowledge of the relations between the shooters and the 'victims.'

"Let me conclude by saying that I do not oppose school shootings, that I understand the anger involved, and that I would recommend only that in the future UAP activists be more circumspect in their selection of targets."

In an article entitled "Third Positionist" Fascism In The US: A Case Study Of Bill White" by Mark Salotte and published on the "Info-Shop News Site," the following characterization is made:

"In early 1999, White's political delusions reached a feverish pitch -- the final straw was claiming that the Columbine "Trenchcoat Mafia" were UAP members acting under his command, and that the UAP had similar attacks planned across the country. Around this time he was arrested in a scuffle with a cop. He got scared, realizing that his mouth was gonna be used against him, pleaded insanity at trial, was committed to a mental institution, and disappeared from the activist scene for several months."

This period and White's hospitalization would come back to haunt him time and again.

Struggling for recognition and acceptance, realizing that the UAP was rapidly deteriorating around him, White once more decided to run for the School Board. This time he decided to change his platform somewhat and test the waters to see if he could garner more support. He listed his education as "self-educated" and claimed to be an "independently wealthy humanitarian." For his civic activities, White boasted, ": Ten years of political activism in: street-level anti-racist, anti-police brutality, free-speech, youth issues and issues of liberty in the public schools, anti-war/anti-imperialism." If those statements were not enough to insure defeat, his rationale for why people should cast their votes to him sealed it:

"The public school system is systematically destroying America by undermining our culture and destroying our understanding of the necessity of liberty, particularly in the minds of the common people and working class. Though students are graduating from schools unable to read, no student is leaving school not knowing how to duckspeak the slogans of the liberal ruling class. We need to reinstitute in all public schools an appreciation for liberty, how Americans won their liberty, and how they had maintained it, and how the current one-party monopoly has usurped it. If we do not, our society faces destruction and enslavement."

On of the things that runs through White's entire pseudo-anarchist tapestry really surfaced during this campaign. His distaste for psychiatric counseling, along with his dislike of law-enforcement and laws, became part of his platform as a school board candidate. In a written response to the Montgomery County Council of Parent-Teacher Associations, White responds to a question regarding school safety:

"To make our schools safe, we must take steps to make students no longer want to rebel. What are the bureaucrats doing to make students want to kill? We must remove all police from schools, relax discipline policies that violate civil liberties, end coercive psychiatric counseling and psychiatric drugging in the schools, and begin anew teaching the precepts of liberty to youth. A good start will be the integration of firearms training into the physical education cirriculum, and a good ending will be an appreciation of the totalitarian, anti-working class nature of the Marxist-Leninist social doctrines currently in vogue."

Again, Bill White was defeated. Needing and craving the stroking of an ego that was out of control, White floundered around on message boards throughout cyber-space seeking self-validation. He continued to be the object of much ridicule and derision. But White, in classic narcissistic fashion, was reshaping and redefining himself. This is the narcissists survival tool. And Bill White is a survivor.

As has already been noted, he had received some cold shoulders from the anarchist crew who already viewed him at best as a racist and at worst as a neo-Nazi. Realizing that his brand of anarchy was not going to garner him much in the way of anything other than guffaws at his absurdity, White decided to become a "Libertarian Socialist." While to some this may appear to be an oxymoron, to the Libertarian Socialist, quite the opposite is true. There are many discussions online in reference to the term and we shall leave it to the reader to research, perhaps starting with this link to a rather cogent discussion - Libertarian Socialists.

White pretty much abandoned his Utopian Anarchist Party in favor of his new organization Libertarian Socialist News. White began publishing online "news reports" that were virulently anti-Semitic in nature. This drew harsh criticism once again. It seemed that White just couldn't get it right. When researching for a Libertarian Socialist perspective on racism, the following seemed to sum it up quite well:

"It has always been impossible for workers to challenge capitalism effectively so long as divisions of people based on gender, skin color, or sexual orientation have continued. Racism in particular has been used from the start as a way of dividing workers along an arbitrary basis and weakening any chances for solid organisation. So long as there is always someone being looked down upon, someone forced to accept lower wages because of their low status in society, wages in a competitive system can always be pushed to what the lowest and most desperate will accept. It should also go without saying that there is no scientific proof of the existence of separate human "races" which are truly incapable of getting along, nor is there scientific proof that women are inherently physically weaker or less intellectually capable than men. The issue of "hate speech" and pornography must always take into account the importance of artistic freedom and the necessity to criticize what one disagrees with. When it is clear that a conscious effort is being made to denigrate or divide a group of people from another, with some economic or political goal as it's motivation, libertarian socialists would resist such actions on the basis that they would divide and weaken any chance for eventual liberation from capitalism. Finally, so long as any group is prejudiced against, humanity will wage war against itself for irrational reasons, using such divisions as a means to an end when seen fit. If people understand that they too can be discriminated against, based on ANYTHING about them, it should be obvious that such discrimination, like any other human activity, has potential to be self-destructive in it's consequences."

Hence, it would appear that Bill White was at it again. Never content with the party line and always looking for that which would set him apart from all the rest, White jumped into his own racist brand of Libertarian Socialism. In an effort to, once again, redefine himself, it seems that he felt compelled to redefine the ideology to his own liking. It wasn't long before he was able to capture a little bit of the limelight once again.

In April of 2001, a debate was raging among Montgomery County Officials over whether or not to ban county funding to facilities which hold gun shows. Seing an opportunity to garner some press coverage, White seized the moment by joining the Tyranny Response Team and attending the hearing. The Tyranny Response Team is a rag-tag little group of "Patriots" who dress up in Revolution Era hats and protest gun-control throughout the United States replete with militia style rhetoric. At the Montgomery County Hearing, the Tyranny Response Team complained that the ordinance was a "broad assault on the civil liberties of firearm owners." White stepped to the forefront making the following statement about those who were in support of the bill:

"They're not worried so much about gun sales. They're worried about gun shows as a center of political organizing."

On that point, the council president seemed to agree. "These are not benign places," Ewing said. "The one I went to had a good deal of hate literature-racist and anti-jewish. People don't like that in Montgomery County." (One People's Project).

It is amazing what a few seconds of fame will do to give the narcissist a shot in the arm. Newly rejuvenated, White decided to tackle yet another issue. When the city of Kensington, Maryland was asked to light a menorah in the town square as part of its' holiday celebration, there were those in agreement and those who disagreed. After much discussion, it was decided that the 2001 celebration would be secular and patriotic. This met with strong opposition. As the cries of protest went up over what some considered a ban on Santa Claus, Bill White smelled opportunity. He swiftly issued a Press Release from the Tyranny Response Team with his plan of battle:

"Tyranny Response Team commandos and FReeper militia disguised as Santa Claus, Elves, other helpers (and even Christians), to raid anti-Santa (anti-Christmas) Kensington Town Council's "Celebration of the American Spirit Through Lights and Music" (Includes the Santa-less Town Tree Lighting Ceremony)

"Patriots will peaceably assemble near the Kensington Armory beginning around 3:30 p.m. and then occasionally disperse to cover all access and egress streets to the ceremony' s location. Remember, no profanity, no racism, no threats, no violence, ect., will be tolerated at the scene. A demonstration/protest permit is NOT required for this; regardless, local law enforcement officers should be treated with respect. We must remain "on message" defend the 1st Amendment, freedom of religion, freedom from this local government' s tyranny, while we counterattack this secular assault on Christmas. Remember that we are doing this FOR THE CHILDREN!"

And Santa's did show up. They marched right down the street. So did Bill White, carrying a sign that read "If Jews can ban Santa, why can't we ban Jews."

At this point in Bill White's internet life, he was still claiming to be non-racist and non anti-Semitic. Yet, immediately following the protest in Kensington, the following statements were posted on his site:

"I went to the rally against the Jewish ban on Santa Clause in Kensington. I had a sign that read "If Jews Can Ban Santa, Why Can't We Ban Jews? Terrorists Of Israel * Tyrants At Home-American Intifada, http:www.overthrow.com" I knew about half of the people rallying there. Most were standing with me and supporting me to start with. Then, I got surrounded by a gaggle of cackling Jews, and most of the people with me got scared off.

"The police ordered me to move my giant sign-it was 10' by 5'-across the street. As I did so, I was attacked by several members of FreeRepublic.com My sign was destroyed. I then starting mocking Free Republic with my bullhorn, talking about how lemming conservatives were phony patriots, how they hated their country, how all they know is what they read in the newspapers and how Jews own all the newspapers. My attacks on patriotism incited a gang of bikers, five of which attacked me. The police stood by until I had taken two of these five three hundred plus pound bikers who where swinging wildly at me and put them on the ground. When the cops saw the bikers losing, they moved in to intervene.

"I don't know what footage the television is showing, but I literally have only two scratches from a man's fingernail on me, despite the fact that I spent several minutes fighting with five three hundred pound bikers, all of whom then claimed to the police I assaulted them, two of whom seemed on the verge of tears and were saying "he hit me", despite the fact they broke out of a crowd of people to charge at least fifty feet before encountering me. "Despite what the newspapers and television will say, most of the non-Jewish audience was supportive of what I had to say. Only a handful of Jews and Yahoos from FreeRepublic, as well as the drug addicted, wimpy ass super-patriots with no brain three hundred pound bikers, were upset.

"My glasses and bullhorn were taken by the police and "accidentally" given to the bikers who, unable to hurt me, did destroy them. It was no great loss-I have plenty of money, and I always expect to lose things when I' m at demonstrations.

"All in all, it has been a very fun today. I am not going out to dinner with a female friend who accompanied me to the rally but, like everyone else, stayed far away from the media attention I was giving.

"I am daily becoming more and more sure that Jews are the root of most of out society' s problems. My people who were working the crowd tell me that most of the people there thought I had a point, enjoyed my sign, and thought that what the police did by not arresting the bikers was wrong. This is good- and I hope it is the beginning of a lot of fun."

In reality, many people found the sign being carried by White quite offensive. A young teen ran up and tore the sign from White's hands. The police then intervened and took the teen to the other side of the street. And that was the only incident reported on December 2, 2001, in Kensington, Maryland. It was the "beginning" however - maybe not of "fun" but it certainly marked the beginning of ascension into the world of the White Nationalist. It also marked the beginning of the end for Bill White as he rapidly flew into the radar of anti-racists.

Enjoying his newly found media attention, White decided to once again run for political office, only this time he set his sights a little higher. He ran for the Maryland State Legislature as an Independent candidate. Oddly enough, he didn't include his membership in the Tyranny Response Team in his profile. He did, however, claim to be a "published columnist" and cited "Synthesis" the journal of the National Anarchist Movement. White lost the election, garnering only 7% of the vote.

At this point, however, Bill White had begun to receive some much needed attention from the folks on the racist right. Realizing that his acceptance as an anarchist would never come, White's narcissism required that he, once again, reinvent himself. Thus began the new era of "Kaiser" Bill White. Mark Salotte had this to say:

"...he's never quite what he seems. On the one hand he's a master of self-promotion and disinformation, but on the other hand the delusions that come out in his writing are sometimes so huge and glaring that you have to wonder if he crosses the line from intentionally stretching the truth to actually believing reality is just a bit different from what everybody else sees. While his political allegiances are easy to pin down (even people that don't know anything about his politics know him as "Nazi Bill White"), what's a little more disorienting to some are the arguments he, probably more than any other figure on the American Right, has worked to hone over the last few years, since his abandonment of the lone wolf, loose-cannon style he had staked out for himself historically, and his attempt to remake himself as some kind of external ideologue and propagandist for the neo-fascist political right wing."

In an effort to bring everyone up to date on this neo-Nazi Bill White, I am pulling both the archived history of his antics and the latest news surrounding him and his arrest all together here.

PART I
THE UTOPIAN ANARCHIST PARTY

Bill White, then University of Maryland student and head of the controversial "Utopian Anarchist Party," applauded and defended the shooters. Issuing a call for support of the perpetrators, White said,

"We have to remember that people who go and shoot up their schools are not acting as tyrants here. These are oppressed people who are struggling against society and who are now fighting society in the only way they know how. "The two men, students at the school, entered the school around 11:30 AM, during lunch, and began shooting the preppy bitches who had spent their lives bullying and picking on the shooters."

So, just what is this Utopian Anarchist Party? Well, we can tell you that it certainly wasn't something embraced by the true anarchists in our society. While Bill White attempted to build this "Party" along the lines of anarchist thinking, the true agenda of Bill White and his "Party" was one to further White rather than anarchist thought. The UAP Statement of Purpose proffers the Anarchist Party Line:

Article I: Purpose

The purpose of the Utopian Anarchist Party is to eliminate the government of the United States of America and not replace it.

Article II: Goals

In pursuit of this purpose, the Utopian Anarchist Party focuses on the following goals:
Elimination of the police;
Elimination of jails, prisons, and penitentiaries;
Elimination of coercive public schooling; and,
Elimination of coercive juvenile psychiatry;
by any means expedient.

Article III: Methods In pursuit of these goals, the Utopian Anarchist Party seeks to strengthen and improve the people of this country so that they can carry out these goals and this purpose. In strengthening and improving the people, the following methods are used:

Alternate social services are provided for the unfortunate, particularly unfortunate youth, including provision of shelter, food, work, health care, counseling and other services as resources allow.
Educational and informational materials, including newsletters, brochures, flyers, and pamphlets are created and distributed among the population free of charge.
Programs to support other revolutionary groups, of all political stripes, are implemented as resources allow.
Legal organizations allied with the anarchist movement exist to achieve anarchist goals within the law.
Armed forces are raised, as resources allow, to defend the people and to counter the aggression of the state.

Article IV: Organization and Membership

There is no formal or coercive organizational structure to the Utopian Anarchist Party.
There are no official titles or positions within the Utopian Anarchist Party.
There are no membership requirements nor formal "membership" status.
There is no party line to which sympathizers must adhere.
Members of other organizations are welcome to hold sympathies towards the Utopian Anarchist Party.

And while it is rife with the ideas and tenets of Anarchist thought, the basic premise becomes bastardized by the actions of the leaders. From its conception, the UAP suffered, largely because of the leadership. On May 1, 1996, a May Day Anarchist Rally was held on the campus of the University of Maryland. Led by Bill White, the rally fell flat on its face. In an Interview with the campus newspaper "Diamondback," White stated that he supports violence against the police and called them 'pigs.' In that same interview, however, it was learned that he had paid campus security to provide their services during the rally.

The rally itself was poorly attended yet, a few real anarchists did show up and it was stated that they wanted to promote solidarity in their efforts but that they weren't doing it for Bill White who they claimed was doing this not out of loyalty to the cause, but merely for self glorification and to promote himself.

Self glorification and self-promotion appear to be a constant theme throughout Bill White's life and it isn't lost on too many. Generally put off by his articulate nature it doesn't take long before the smoke screen thrown up by White meets with a slow hot wind. As he attempted to promote his UAP across the internet he gained quite a name for himself. The accolades which he lavished on the Columbine shooters were not the first of their kind for White. When 14-year-old Michael Carneal, the son of a prominent attorney, walked into the crowded lobby of Heath High School in Kentucky on December 3, 1997, and opened fire killing 3 and wounding 5 others, Bill White made the following statement:

"The only thing Michael Carneal did wrong was not take out more of these Christian pigs. By eliminating three future Bible-thumping lunatics he did America a service, and we should thank, and not revile, him for it."

These remarks have created an aura around White that the media wasn't certain how to address and the anarchists really didn't want to. Adding fuel to the already smoldering embers, White created a UAP website replete with all sorts of advice on how to build bombs and make drugs. Additionally, it has been reported that the UAP sponsored and promoted a shelter for runaway teens which they called the Runaway Railway. This caused great concern among law-enforcement, anarchists and others. In May of 1996, White boasted about a police investigation of him that was centered around runaways in Gaithersburg:

"A team of Montgomery County investigators, headed by Detetctive Victor A. Kennedy of the Youth Services Division of the Wheaton-Glenmont District, and in concjunction with the City of Gaithersburg and other local jurisdictions, have been invesitgating local anarchists and anarchist sympathizers for providing asistance, including shelter, transportation and other services, to several runaways. Two sought after runaways were captured in a raid in Gaithersburg, and police have interrogated seveal people and have threatened to arrest prominent anarchist Bill White (me) after officers searched his car during a traffic stop."

Furthering his outrageous pseudo-anarchist stance, White issued the following statement in regard to the runaway investigation:

"Anarchy is a righteous philosophy, and our sympathizers will continue to act in a righteous manner. The youths in question are trying to escape from homes filled with brutal beatings, vicious threats, and serious mental and emotional abuse, and we will not allow those youths or any other youths to be returned to those households against their will. Let the police come, for we will fight and die before we allow them to deny these peole their rightful freedom."

Across the internet and in anarchist circles the claims that White's Runaway Railroad was merely a mechanism by which White could procure young girls ran rampant. The section of the UAP website devoted to runaways is filled with a list of do's and don't's for those planning to leave home. And, of course, the potential runaways are urged to contact White.

Also in 1996, White posted messages on internet boards that a young girl was being abused by her parents. White posted the name, address, and phone number of the parents urging everyone to call them. And people did call. Some of the calls were obscene and threatening. The girl in question was an adjudicated emotionally disturbed teen and the information came from "friends" who were part of her psychotherapy sessions which are highly confidential. When quoted in the paper, White made the claim that you should be able to say whatever you want on the internet - true or not. And that philosophy hasn't changed in the last eight years as is evidenced by White's current "reportings."

Eventually, Bill White abandoned the UAP and started his Libertarian Socialist News organization - making a radical turn to the right. Well, not too radical if you want to consider him a "Third Positionist." But even they won't lay claim to White's ideology. The UAP was merely a vehicle by which White could promote himself. Everyone saw it, and it soon outlived its' usefulness to Bill White.

Strange things happen in cyber space – especially in the realm of organized and not so organized hate groups. While experts quip about how the internet has provided a new resource for recruitment into such groups and for the proliferation of messages of hate, it has also become a source of their own destruction.

Unpopular views and those who hold them consistently seek validation and reassurance through association and acceptance. Relationships built on need for self-confirmation are tenuous at best and among the hate-filled white supremacists, meaningful relationships are rarely long-lasting.

Consequently, the internet has become the arena in which they beat each other up, publicly denounce rival groups, and basically air their dirty laundry. After-all, why engage in street fighting when you can exact much more pain through the keyboard?

Of course, as an anti-racist, I’m not complaining – merely observing and often reaping the rewards.

With the deaths of Richard Butler and William Luther Pierce the demise of the White Nationalist Movement began. Soon thereafter came the incarceration of Matthew Hale of the World Church of the Creator and the Satan’s Gate revelations of the National Socialist Movement, effectively curtailing the growth and activities of two more rather virulent groups of the same genre.

What has been left is Don Black’s Stormfront potpourri of neutered racists and a rather comical hodgepodge of cretins who frequent the Vanguard News Network Forum.

Up until this spring, the internet was plagued with a couple of rather rancorous racists in the form of Hal Turner and Bill White. Turner produced a white nationalist radio show and threatened Congress, the Jews, immigrants, etc. until he realized that no one was listening and that racists had no loyalties – or money.

Bill White, on the other hand, has been a thorn in everyone’s side for years. A master manipulator of both truth and individuals, it is a truly wondrous thing that he lasted among the supremacists as long as he did. Of course, that doesn’t say much for the mental acuity of the racist crowd, now does it?

Of all of those using the internet to further the racist message, Don Black, Hal Turner, and Bill White have probably been the most notorious with the VNN bunch striving for the same notoriety. However, the one person who has created the most drama and, as such, been the most successful at baiting the racists and pitting them against each other has got to be Bill White.

Now, it’s no secret that White has been a great asset to the anti-racists. We love it when Bill joins or forms a new group because we know that he is getting the goods on everyone who befriends him and will soon make all of that available to us. He has provided us with much amusement and amazement at his ability to maneuver and manipulate the unwary as well as those who know him. His abilities aren’t reserved simply for the unsophisticated or the gullible either as we have witnessed even the most astute reporters fall prey to his ingenuity.

It’s an old game with a new twist. It’s called bait and switch. And while White is masterful at this, every dog definitely has its day.

As was noted earlier, strange things happen in cyber space and game-playing can become very convincing or very confusing. Bill White’s game consists of him joining up with a group of people on the internet, writing and saying all of the things he thinks they want to hear, convincing them that he is extremely intelligent and leadership material, getting publicity, making them feel comfortable, giving them validity in their beliefs, and gathering personal information (just in case).

Once he has gained their confidence, he begins to find fault with the group leaders or other members. He picks away at their failings. He watches carefully for signs that others are starting to agree with him and then he strikes taking his handful of followers and publicly humiliating and outing the others. But it doesn’t stop there.

Allegiances among the racist set are flimsy and short-lived. Once White’s idolaters realize that they have been duped by an egomaniacal jackass they begin to react but, generally speaking, they are little to no match for the agile Mr. White who takes great pleasure in publishing all of their personal information and making up outrageous lies about those who leave.

The truly incredible thing in all of this is White’s ability to often regain entrance into the same group that he left in total disarray – baiting others into his disingenuous web of a self-ingratiating, egoistic brand of hate.

Recently, however, Bill White has been pretty well ostracized by white nationalists. This hasn’t played out well for White whose narcissistic personality demands attention at all costs. Over the last few weeks, it has been obvious to most of us that the stress of this lack of recognition has taken its toll.

In the midst of bankruptcy and personal turmoil, White tried desperately to maintain a web presence and some semblance of “leadership” within the movement. Announcing appearances on little-known radio shows, attempting to create newsworthy situations, and writing articles containing only smatterings of truth, White has been trying to regain some ground in the inner-circles of the movement – all to no avail.

Then things got uglier – a lot uglier. White announced plans to publish a limited edition of a “mini-magazine” with the feature story entitled “Kill This Nigger.” The magazine cover shows a picture of Presidential candidate Barack Obama speaking to a crowd while in the crosshairs.

Next, with the announcement that federal prisoner, Matt Hale, former leader of the World Church of the Creator, was petitioning for a reduced sentence based on perceived improprieties surrounding one of his jurors, White obtained and published all of the personal information on that juror.

Both of these incidents caused a collective gasp among us and a discussion over whether or not Bill had finally crossed the line.

The publishing of this sort of information is not out of the ordinary for White. At the end of the Hale trial, he published what he claimed was the phone number and address of the federal informant who caused Hale’s arrest. Of course, the information was incorrect and caused an innocent family to be put in harms way.

A year ago, White published personal information on Leonard Pitts, an African American, Pulitzer Prize winning author as well as the Reverend Al Sharpton. So, the outrageous is not out of the question when Bill White wants attention.

A couple of weeks ago, White claimed that he was being followed by the FBI and that they had tried to question him. Last week he said that he was being audited by the Internal Revenue Service. He also claimed that former friend (and general boot-licker), Michael Blevins had turned him into the feds claiming that White had opened bank accounts in Mexico in an effort to hide his money from the bankruptcy courts. All of this has been denied by Blevins.

On October 9th, Hal Turner reported on his blog that Bill White was the subject of a Grand Jury investigation over the publishing of Leonard Pitts’ personal information and his “alleged involvement in something else.” He went on to claim that there were at least two witnesses testifying against White.

White responded with a tirade of accusations claiming that Michael Blevins and Justin Boyer, both former members of his American Nazi Socialist Worker’s Party, were the “rats” and the “snitches.”

On October 10th, White’s website disappeared. He announced that the FBI had raided his facility, seized his servers, and were looking for evidence that he had “conspired to commit violent acts” against the juror in the Matt Hale trial. He went on to say, “I did, however, receive affidavits from individuals Friday indicating federal agents offered them money to commit violent crimes against people profiled on our website in order to implicate us in those crimes.”

Uh…huh.

In a frenzy, White has issued several other statements in the last several hours, claiming that there has been an elaborate (and wholly unbelievable) plot by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to set him up and frame him for conspiring to commit violent acts against others. He has implicated several of the people who left his fold and who have spoken out against him labeling them mentally-ill informants and “snitches.”

How much of the story being told by White is true is anyone’s guess. It’s cyber space and very little of what Bill says can be believed. Certainly, I would like to believe that there might be some sort of justice awaiting White. However, the danger at the moment is that White’s accusations and fabrications may just get someone killed.

For those who have been taken in by Bill White and his games, all that I can say is that you should have known better. As to Bill White…baiting the hook sometimes snags the baiter.

See this picture? It is of Gov. Sarah Palin when she was just a mere member of the Wasilla, Alaska City Council back in '95. If you click on it and enlarge the picture, you will notice she has her hands on a bit of literature. It is actually an article from the New American - a magazine published by the John Birch Society.

Now while we were here in Philly taking in a free concert for Sen. Barack Obama by Bruce Springsteen, she was in Colorado attacking Obama for, in her words, "palling around with terrorists". This is that old chestnut that has been bandied about among the conservatives smear circles because at one time Obama served on a charity board with Weather Underground co-founder Bill Ayers. Now we understand what the deal is.

Gov. Palin is still reeling from the less-than-stellar performance during her debate with Sen. Joe Biden, and she is looking for anything - ANYTHING - to get back in the good graces of the McCain campaign. She has fast become an albatross around the neck of the campaign and we have exactly one month before The Election That Changes Everything, so she has to do a Hail Mary like this. The problem is this picture is out there, and it reminds people of Palin's own dubious political connections. In addition to this photo, we have other interesting things, like her quoting during her convention acceptance speech of a John Birch Society member who once said that it was "clearly the bounden duty of all intelligent Americans to proclaim and practice bigotry", her husband's association with a political party that wants Alaska to secede from the Union, not to mention her own support for the group from as recent as this year when she gave the group a videotaped welcome for their conference, and her expressed sentiment that fascist congressman Ron Paul is "cool". So if she wants to get on Barack Obama's case, she should be warned - we have a hell of a lot more on her to throw at her than she does on Obama. ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (Oct. 4) - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Saturday accused Democrat Barack Obama of "palling around with terrorists" because of an old association with a former '60s radical, stepping up an effort to portray Obama as unacceptable to American voters.

Palin's reference was to Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the group the Weather Underground. Its members took credit for bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol, during the Vietnam War era. Obama, who was a child when the group was active, served on a charity board with Ayers several years ago and has denounced his radical views and activities.

The Republican campaign, falling behind Obama in polls, plans to make attacks on Obama's character a centerpiece of candidate John McCain's message in the final weeks of the presidential race.

Palin told a group of donors at a private airport, "Our opponent ... is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country." She also said, "This is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America."
The Obama campaign called Palin's remarks offensive but not surprising in light of news stories detailing the campaign's come-from-behind offensive.
"What's clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy," Obama campaign spokesman Hari Sevugan said in a statement.

Palin's remark about Obama "palling around with terrorists" comes as e-mails circulate on the Internet with suggestions that the Democratic candidate is secretly a radical, foreign-born Muslim with designs against the U.S. — even though Obama is a native of Hawaii, a Christian and has no connections to Muslim extremists.
Palin, Alaska's governor, said that donors on a greeting line had encouraged her and McCain to get tougher on Obama. She said an aide then advised her, "Sarah, the gloves are off, the heels are on, go get to them."

The escalated effort to attack Obama's character dovetails with TV ads by outside groups questioning Obama's ties to Ayers, convicted former Obama fundraiser Antoin "Tony" Rezko and Obama's former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Early Signs Of Sarah Palin's Radical Agenda?

Here is a biographical and personality insight one would only turn up through a more careful examination of political pictures.

Last week, the NYT published a widely-read story about the way Sarah Palin treated her friends and foes as the Wasilla mayor. The photo leading the article, supplied by the Heath family, shows Palin flanked by the council in 1998, two years into her mayoral tenure. If you scroll down, however, the article offers a second photo, also supplied by the family, of Palin when she was still a Wasilla councilwoman. (Although undated, she was a city council member from '92 - '96.) The photo is one of those easy-to-pass-by, standard sitting-at-your-desk shots in front of your name plate.

The picture, however, is also one of those published by The Times you are invited to click to enlarge.

Doing so, what you can suddenly make out quite clearly is what Palin chose to be photographed attending to, which is a newsletter with a photo of a guy in a suit, the page headlined with the title: "Con-Con Call." A "con-con" call, if (like me) you're not versed in government-speak, is a call for a constitutional convention, intended to either revise or completely rewrite the constitution of a state or the federal government.

The point is, and what the photo telegraphs is that, even at this early stage of her local career, Palin is revealing herself as an activist officeholder with not just ambitious, but much larger and radical notions.

Update: 8:55 pm PST -- Thanks to a BNN reader for identifying the article by Don Fotheringham ("Saving the Constitution: unbeknownst to most people, ten years ago the United States nearly had its Constitution rewritten under the guise of bringing the federal government to heel") published in the September 19, 2005 issue of American Opinion Magazine. American Opinion was the official publication of the John Birch Society.

The article outlines the effort by the Birch Society to oppose constitutional conventions where, as Fotheringham writes, "demagogues, internationalists, and think-tank reformers could get their hands on it." Totheringham explains how this and previous articles on the subject had been published or copied and distributed widely by the Birch Society to state government officials across the country to expose:

... the groups bent on a federal convention, which was now being promoted under almost any wishful pretext, such as term limits, the right to life, school prayer, anti-flag burning, and lately, same-sex "marriage."

In the article, Fotheringham identifies himself as the author of the article Palin is holding, published in March 1995 in The New American, also a John Birch publication and the bi-weekly replacement of American Opinion. The magazine features Utah's Governor Leavitt on the cover, as Leavitt was spearheading a legislative attempt in Utah to approve an constitutional convention in favor of a federal balanced budget amendment. (Fotheringham describes how 32 of the necessary 34 states had already signed on.)

With a sense of urgency, 100,000 reprints of the article were made and distributed even before the actual magazine was printed. Fotheringham goes on to explain how the efforts of the Birch society were instrumental in successfully blocking the effort to convene a constitutional convention to approve a balanced budget amendment, or anything else.

In light of this additional information and research, it is important for me to state that possession of this article doesn't, in itself, suggest Sarah Palin was an advocate for any particular agenda. Certainly, her posing with it could just as simply mean she was one of the thousands of state elected officials who were in receipt of this reprint distributed by the John Birch Society.

On the other hand, David Neiwert over at FDL examines the photo from the standpoint of the Palins attendance at Alaskan Independence Party gatherings; the couple's befriending of AIP leadership; and Todd's membership in the organization. Given the John Birch Society's sympathy for militias and Todd's overlapping notion of the government as "illegitimate," Neiwert sees ample possibility the Palins had more than a casual interest in the Birch society and its political philosophy. Jed Report raises similar questions.

Update 2: 9/19. 9:41 am PST: Of course, it doesn't help the argument that the visual association here is a completely innocent one after Palin anonymously quoted the right wing reactionary Westbrook Pegler in her RNC acceptance speech. Pegler was primarily known with his attacks on government power, and his specific hatred for Roosevelt who he characterized as a dictator. Pegler himself was a writer for the JBS publication, American Opinion, before being kicked out of the society in 1964 for his anti-semitic views.

Update 3: 9/19/ 1:28 pm PST: A commenter at Huffington raises an interesting point. Although the John Birch Society went out of its way to distribute this article to state elected officials with voting authority in the case of a constitutional convention vote, it is much less likely Palin would have been on such a distribution list as a member of a local city council.

Update 4: 10/4/08: David Neiwert has been interviewing people in Wasilla about Palin's past. Her connection with the far-right fringe makes him even more convinced the publication didn't just cross her desk by accident.
